#14 Texas A&M Outscores #8 LSU 31-6 in 2nd Half to Win 38-23

#14 Texas A&M made a QB switch against #8 LSU, igniting a massive second half that saw the Aggies open with 3 unanswered touchdowns before running away with this one, 38-23.

QB Conner Weigman was 6-for-18 for 64 yards before the Aggies made the change to backup Marcel Reed halfway through the 3rd quarter after Texas A&M went punt-punt to open the 2nd half. Texas A&M was down 17-7 but then proceeded to go Touchdown, Touchdown, Touchdown, Touchdown, Field Goal, Victory Formation.

Reed only finished 2-for-2 passing for 70 yards, but he finished with 62 rushing yards on 9 rush attempts, plus 3 rushing touchdowns. RB Le’Veon Moss contributed the other 2 touchdowns on the ground, as he ran for 83 yards. And RB Amari Daniels led all rushers in this game with 91 rushing yards.

As for LSU, Aaron Anderson and Kyren Lacy both hit the 100-yard mark, combining for 232 receiving yards, as QB Garrett Nussmeier finished 25-for-50 with 405 yards, 2 touchdowns, but 3 interceptions. LB Taurean York hauled in one interception, as DB BJ Mayes brought in the other two for the Aggies.

Looking ahead for Texas A&M, before playing #5 Texas on November 30th, the schedule goes: @ South Carolina, Bye, vs. New Mexico State, and @ Auburn. It is entirely plausible that this Aggies’ team is 10-1 headed into a matchup against Texas, another team likely to be 10-1 when they meet.

#1 Oregon Makes Comfortable Work of #20 Illinois 38-9

#1 Oregon looked every bit the top team in the nation as it comfortably beat the #20-ranked Illini 38-9. Most of this was done in the first half, as Oregon raced out to a strong 35-3 lead at halftime.

Oregon finished the day with 527 yards (to Illinois’ 293) and finished with 7.87 yards per play to Illinois’ 4.37, while also winning the turnover battle 2-1.

7 Ducks registered at least one carry, as they finished with 229 rushing yards on 39 carries. Jordan James led all rushers in this one with 83 yards on 15 carries, while Noah Whittington finished with 7 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown on the ground, and 2 catches for 20 yards and a touchdown in the receiving game.

WR Tez Johnson led all receivers in this one with 6 catches for 102 yards and a touchdown, but Illinois WR Zakhari Franklin also had a solid day, finishing with 72 yards on 6 catches.

Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel was methodical, finishing 18-for-26 with 291 yards, 3 touchdowns, and an interception. Illinois QB Luke Altmyer finished 17-for-35 with 161 yards and 2 interceptions.

#12 Notre Dame Routs #24 Navy 51-14 After Navy Turns the Ball Over 6 Times

Navy had an uncharacteristic 6 turnovers in a hyped up Top 25 matchup against #12 Notre Dame, who capitalized on the turnovers and went on to win 51-14.

Navy lost 5 fumbles (and had another 2 fumbles that it did not lose), recovered by Rod Heard II, Jack Kiser, Jaylen Sneed, Adon Shuler, and Junior Tuihalamaka.

Navy QB Blake Horvath finished 7-for-13 with 88 yards and an interception while also being responsible for 2 of the fumbles lost. Horvath did lead all rushers in this one with 129 yards and a touchdown on 14 rush attempts, including a 60-yard scamper that helped set up the first Navy touchdown.

Eli Heidenrich scored the other touchdown for the Midshipmen, finishing with 51 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries (while also losing a fumble).

For the Fighting Irish, QB Riley Leonard finished 13-for-21 with 178 yards and 2 touchdowns, plus 83 rushing yards and another touchdown on 10 carries. RBs Jeremiyah Love and Kedren Young also finished with 154 combined rushing yards and 3 combined rushing touchdowns on 22 carries. Both transfer WRs, Beaux Collins and Kris Mitchell, caught touchdown passes.

Since losing at home to Northern Illinois, the Irish are beating opponents by an average score of 42.66 to 11.33, an average margin of 31.33 points per game.

#15 Alabama Shuts Out #21 Missouri 34-0

#15 Alabama put an absolute hurting on #21 Missouri from start to finish, as Alabama won 34-0.

By the end of this one, Alabama had outgained the Tigers 486-239. Missouri finished with 3.79 yards per play to the Tide’s 7.71, while the Tigers also finished 3-for-14 on conversion downs.

In other words, it was an absolute beatdown no matter how you slice it.

Missouri QBs Drew Pyne and Brady Cook combined to go 13-for-24 for 72 yards and 3 interceptions, all thrown by Pyne.

RBs Marcus Carroll and Jamal Roberts finished with a combined 151 rushing yards on 34 carries, at least. Those aren’t exactly great numbers, but it certainly could be enough to score at least one touchdown with a decent game passing.

For the Crimson Tide, QB Jalen Milroe finished 16-for-26 with 215 yards but no touchdowns. All 4 touchdowns were rushing touchdowns, as RB Justice Haynes finished with 79 rushing yards and a touchdown on 8 carries. RB Jam Miller finished with 48 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on 11 carries. And then Milroe also added a rushing touchdown of his own while finishing with 50 yards on 11 carries.

#5 Texas Gets Gritty Win Over #25 Vanderbilt in Nashville

#5 Texas went to Nashville and played a feisty #25 Vanderbilt team that gave them everything they could handle.

Ultimately, Texas did recover the onside kick that could have turned this game into an instant classic, but this was still an entertaining game nonetheless. For Texas, there was definitely a lot that will need to be cleaned up.

For example, Texas finished with 107 penalty yards and QB Quinn Ewers threw 2 interceptions.

Ewers finished 27-for-37 with 288 yards and 3 touchdowns, as well as those 2 interceptions already mentioned. The RBs Tre Wisner and Jaydon Blue finished with 126 yards on 27 carries, though, a reasonably fine showing to complement Ewers’ output.

DeAndre Moore Jr. finished with 97 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns on 6 catches as he led all pass catchers in this game. 8 Longhorns caught multiple passes, including Matthew Golden who also caught the other touchdown pass.

For Vandy, QB Diego Pavia finished 16-for-29 with 143 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. He also led all Commodore rushers with 67 rushing yards and a touchdown on 16 rush attempts.

#4 Ohio State Survives Against Nebraska in Sloppy 21-17 Victory

Ohio State played a messy, messy game as it got past a tough Nebraska team 21-17.

The Buckeyes went just 1-10 on 3rd down and finished with just 285 yards, but did have a moderately efficient day of 6.06 yards per play. Ohio State did struggle to run the ball, as Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson combined for just 54 yards on 20 carries.

Throwing the ball, Will Howard was 13-for-16 for 221 yards, 3 touchdowns, and an interception while Carnell Tate finished with 102 yards and a touchdown on 4 catches. Jeremiah Smith also added 70 receiving yards and a touchdown on 3 catches.

For the Huskers, Raiola finished 21-for-32 with just 152 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception. He did add 31 rushing yards on 9 total rush attempts. RB Dante Dowdell led all rushers with 60 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.

The Buckeyes ultimately snuck out a victory on a late touchdown pass from Howard to Judkins, one of the only drives that did not stall out or need an explosive play to score.

#22 SMU Turns the Ball Over 6 Times But Escapes With OT Win Over Duke 28-27

But by the end of this one, it came down to a 2-point conversion attempt in overtime that Duke did not convert that was the difference.

#22 SMU survived in a weird game that saw the Mustangs outgain Duke 469 yards to 393 and average 6.34 yards per play compared to Duke’s 5.10, and yet it felt like Duke had every opportunity to win this one.

The play of the game, undoubtedly, was SMU DL Jahfari Harvey blocking Duke’s field goal at the end of regulation by legally jumping over the offensive line.

In overtime, Brashard Smith did it all, including a 24-yard rushing touchdown on 2nd-and-9.

Then, Duke and Maalik Murphy came back and responded with a 25-yard touchdown on the first play to Eli Pancol. But on the ensuing 2-point conversion, Murphy could not find Pancol again. Arguably, there was some contact, but evidently not enough restrictive contact to justify a penalty in the situation.

SMU turned the ball over each of the last possessions it had, all turnovers QB Kevin Jennings was responsible for. Jennings finished 13-for-24 with 258 yards, a touchdown, and 3 interceptions. He also added 41 rushing yards and a touchdown on 13 rush attempts, as well as 4 fumbles, 2 of which he lost.

RB Brashard Smith finished with 117 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on 26 carries. RB/WR/overall Athlete Roderick Daniels Jr. finished with 2 catches for 153 yards and a touchdown. Daniels had another touchdown waved off after replay ruled he was out at the 1. For Duke, Murphy finished 27-for-48 with 295 yards and 3 touchdowns. RB Star Thomas and Peyton Jones combined for just under 100 yards, finishing with 99 and a touchdown on 26 combined carries.

Receiving, Eli Pancol led all Blue Devils with 138 and a touchdown on 11 catches.

Tulsa Makes 28 Point Halftime Comeback Over UTSA to Win 46-45

Tulsa was down 35-7 at half and was down 42-17 late into the 3rd quarter, and yet the Golden Hurricane prevailed 46-45 thanks to a Herculean effort from QB Cooper Legas and WR Kamdyn Benjamin, among others.

Legas finished 16-for-31 with 333 yards and 5 touchdowns while also leading all Tulsa rushers with 46 yards on 13 rush attempts (7 of which were sacks, which means his 46 yards was actually much higher).

Benjamin finished with 7 catches for 125 yards and 3 touchdowns, including 3 of the last 4 touchdowns to bring Tulsa back from being down 42-17 to ultimately winning the game.

UTSA outgained Tulsa 546-437, but losing the turnover battle 2-1 and having 129 penalty yards ultimately were just enough of a difference in a 1-point game.

For UTSA, QB Owen McCown finished 30-for-50 with 434 yards and 4 touchdowns, while RB Robert Henry led all rushers in this game with 67 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.

Houston Thomas led all pass catchers with 132 yards on 6 catches. Chris Carpenter also added 115 yards and a touchdown of his own on 7 catches for the Roadrunners.

UTSA now falls to 3-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference for a team which was projected to be contending for the AAC Conference Championship.

Michigan Beats Michigan State 24-17 As Another Fight Breaks Out Afterwards

Michigan’s Colston Loveland had himself a day, finishing with 6 catches for 67 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Wolverines beat Michigan State 24-17.

Thankfully for the Wolverines, Alex Orji was able to pick up the slack of the RBs, who finished with a combined 42 rushing yards on 22 carries, as Orji finished with 64 rushing yards and a touchdown on his 6 carries.

QB Davis Warren was 13-for-19 for 123 yards and a touchdown. RB Donovan Edwards also threw a 23 yard touchdown to Loveland.

For Michigan State, QB Aidan Chiles finished 17-for-23 with 189 yards and a touchdown, but he did lose a fumble. RB Nate Carter had a solid game, finishing with 118 yards and a touchdown on 19 attempts. Carter also led all Spartans with 56 receiving yards on his 2 catches.

As Warren was kneeling the game out, Loveland and Michigan State’s Anthony Jones got into it a little bit. After, players came in off the sidelines and there were punches thrown after that. Michigan Coach Sherrone Moore already has said that he told his team that this is unacceptable.

#16 Kansas State Wins Back and Forth Sunflower Showdown Against Kansas 29-27

Kansas State averaged just under 7 yards per play in a back and forth rivalry contest against Kansas that saw the Wildcats win 29-27.

Kicker Chris Tennant booted through a 51-yarder with 1:42 left in the game to give the Wildcats the decisive 29-27 victory. Kansas State’s defense would go on to force a turnover on downs to get the ball back and end the game.

Kansas State’s win means that it will be yet another year before Kansas beats Kansas State – something the Jayhawks have not done on the football field since November 1st, 2008.

Kansas State QB Avery Johnson finished 19-for-34 with 253 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also adding 67 rushing yards and a touchdown on 14 attempts. RBs DJ Giddens and Dylan Edwards also had solid days, finishing with 102 rushing yards and 60 rushing yards, respectively. The two also added 35 combined receiving yards on 3 catches. Finally, Jayce Brown led all pass catchers in this game with 98 receiving yards on 5 catches.

As for the Jayhawks, QB Jalon Daniels finished 18-for-31 with 209 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Running the ball, Devin Neal and Jalon Daniels both finished with 66 yards and a touchdown.
