SEC Levies Fines Against Vanderbilt & Arkansas For Storming Field Following Top Home Wins
Vandy fans are making their way through police and marching down Broadway with the goalposts
What a sport

The SEC levied a $100,000 fine against Vanderbilt and a $250,000 fine against Arkansas for field storming after they beat #1 Alabama and #4 Tennessee, respectively.
The SEC has a policy against storming the field in which the first offense is a $100k fine, the second offense is a $250k fine, and a third offense is a $500k fine. Since the policy was started, Arkansas has now been fined twice under the policy, while this is Vanderbilt’s first offense.
The purpose of the policy is to protect fans and athletes alike, as injuries are possible when the two groups interact.
In the Vanderbilt field storming, fans tore down the goalposts and managed to get them down Broadway Street in Nashville, and into the Cumberland River. Apparently, the Nashville Fire Department had to retrieve the goalpost from the river.
Following the win over #4 Tennessee, Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman joked about the field storming, saying “I think the AD is going to be mad. Or maybe he won’t be, I don’t know. Right now, I don’t care. Go Hogs, go Hogs, baby.”
