#14 Kansas State Pulls Away from #20 Arizona 31-7

Kansas State and Arizona were tied at 7 through the end of the first quarter. After a momentous punt return touchdown from Colorado transfer Dylan Edwards, Kansas State took a 14-7 lead into halftime despite completely mismanaging the end of the first half and coming away with no points despite seemingly having plenty of time and being in field goal range.

Unfortunately for Arizona, though, its 5.31 yards per play and 16 first downs were only able to result in 7 points all night, while Kansas State’s 6.24 yards per play and 21 first downs were able to result in 31 points.

Arizona finished the game with three consecutive drives that ended with turnover on downs. Timely stops for the Kansas State defense were really what separated the two Wildcat teams.

Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan led all receivers in this game with 11 receptions and 138 yards but could not quite break off any major plays to break the game open for an Arizona team that looked like it was ready to counter punch back but just couldn’t quite land a big enough shot to make an actual dent into Kansas State’s lead.

UNLV Goes on Road to Beat Kansas 23-20

UNLV’s Kylin James scored a touchdown on 4th and goal after the two minute timeout in the 4th quarter to score UNLV’s winning touchdown over Kansas.

That last drive for the Rebels was an 18-play drive which only featured rushes. Ultimately, that drive ate 9 minutes and 31 seconds of the game clock.

After the game, UNLV coach Barry Odom said, “I’m really proud of our team. … Early on, it was tough sledding. It was ugly.”

After a 12-for-23 performance for 153 yards and two interceptions for Jalon Daniels, Kansas coach Lance Leipold shared that his QB’s confidence has “become a fragile situation at the moment.”

Despite only averaging 4.1 yards per play (compared to Kansas’ 5.96), the Rebels were able to squeak out a close one thanks to two timely turnovers and putting together drives when it mattered most. The Rebels now improve to 3-0 as Kansas drops to 1-2.

Florida QB Graham Mertz Expected to Start Against Texas A&M

Florida QB Graham Mertz is expected to be the starting QB for the Gators despite true freshman DJ Lagway’s impressive play against Samford last week.

Mertz started to begin the season but had to leave the Week 1 game against Miami early after suffering a concussion.

According to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, DJ Lagway is expected to see some amount of playing time against Texas A&M today even though Mertz is expected to start the game.

Even though Mertz is starting today, this conversation on who should be starting is far from over as coach Billy Napier is on as hot of a seat as is possible.

Alabama OT Kadyn Proctor Expected to Play

According to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, Alabama OT Kadyn Proctor is expected to play for the first time in 2024 as Alabama travels up to Wisconsin.

Alabama’s OL has struggled thus far this season, especially last week against USF, so Proctor’s return is very much so a welcome one to Alabama fans and QB Jalen Milroe.

Proctor was a solid OT for the Crimson Tide last season as a true freshman and was supposed to be a cornerstone piece for Kalen DeBoer’s first team at Alabama, but he suffered a bizarre, untimely injury during warmups before the first game of the season. Now, he should be good to go for Alabama’s game against Wisconsin at Noon today.

Texas A&M QB Conner Weigman Injury Update

ESPN’s Pete Thamel recently described Texas A&M QB Conner Weigman as a “legitimate game-time decision.”

Weigman has been dealing with an upper body injury and will be evaluated before the game to decide if he is playing, but he has been limited in practice.

Expectations for Weigman started high at the beginning of the season, but the results have been underwhelming. Redshirt freshman Marcel Reed is the QB2 in the event that Weigman is unable to go this weekend against Florida.

Utah QB Cam Rising Injury Update

Utah QB Cam Rising is considered a game-time decision against Utah State today, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Rising left during last week’s game against Baylor in the first half after running into a water cooler. Isaac Wilson, younger brother of Zach, filled in for him and will get the start if Rising is not healthy enough to play.

According to Thamel, “the one thing I am certain about with Cam Rising is that there’s an expectation he’ll be back in two weeks when they go to Stillwater for that Big 12 showdown against Oklahoma State. They’re being careful with his hand. We’ll see if he ends up playing in Logan on Saturday.”

LSU WR Chris Hilton Jr. Expected to Miss 3rd Straight Game

ESPN’s Pete Thamel is reporting that LSU’s Chris Hilton Jr. is expected to miss his 3rd straight game of the season as LSU faces off against South Carolina in the game that College GameDay has traveled to.

When healthy, Hilton flashes explosiveness and is averaging almost 20 yards per catch in his career. However, Hilton has been battling injuries off and on for the last few years while having not played yet in 2024.

Hilton came into the Week 1 matchup against USC as questionable but has seemingly not improved enough, health-wise, to see the field yet.

Shane Beamer on LaNorris Sellers: Very Poised, Mature

South Carolina coach Shane Beamer recently took some time to talk about the development of redshirt freshman LaNorris Sellers, praising Sellers’ maturity and poise at the quarterback position.

Sellers may only be 19-years-old, but according to Beamer, Sellers is “not your typical redshirt freshman. … LaNorris is very poised, … he’s a very mature young man.”

Beamer also said that by bringing and dressing Sellers for every game in a redshirt season, “he’s been around this environment and he’s not a guy that lets the moment get to him. He’s very poised, confident; he’s been fantastic.”

Finally, Beamer shared that three of the five top receivers for South Carolina are new faces for Sellers, so Beamer anticipates Sellers and the rest of the offense to continue developing as the season goes on.

Georgia DB Daniel Harris Arrested For Driving 106 MPH

Georgia DB Daniel Harris was arrested Thursday night for allegedly driving 106 MPH according to an Athens PD report.

Harris was charged with five misdemeanors: reckless driving, not wearing a seatbelt, operating an unregistered vehicle without a license plate, driving without proof of insurance, and having illegal window tint.

Even worse, Harris was caught driving 106 MPH after 8 PM in wet conditions. There have been more than two dozen driving incidents in the last few years for the Georgia program.

Harris played in six games last season as a true freshman and has played in both games thus far this season.

4-Star TE Mikkel Skinner Decommits from Cincinnati

4-Star TE Mikkel Skinner decommitted from Cincinnati yesterday after originally committing to Cincinnati back in June.

This decommitment comes one week after Skinner took an official visit to Kentucky.

Additionally, Skinner has previously referred to South Carolina as his “dream school,” in the past, so those two programs may be the two to think about the most. Some think South Carolina is the projected school he’ll commit to, but On3’s Steve Wiltfong believes that it’s Kentucky that will earn Skinner’s commitment.

Wherever he commits to, Skinner is rated as a 4-star by 3 of the 4 major recruiting services, with Rivals the only site to rate Skinner a 3-star.

According to On3’s industry composite, Skinner ranks 386th nationally and 22nd for the position.

Cincinnati’s 2025 recruiting class is down to 15 commitments and is ranked 62nd nationally and 14th in the Big 12.
