#3 Texas Beats Down #10 Michigan At Home 31-12

#3 Texas opened the game as 7.5 point favorites over #10 Michigan, and even that number ended up being soft as Texas started fast, maintained a lead, and routed Michigan on both sides of the ball for the entire game.

Quarterback Quinn Ewers threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns, saying after the game, “I just enjoy big moments.”

Michigan quarterback Davis Warren threw for 204 yards and two interceptions, as well as a touchdown in the final minute or two after the score was already 31-6. One sole bright spot in the Wolverines’ offense was tight end Colston Loveland, who did put up 8 catches for 70 yards.

Northern Illinois Gets $1.2M to STUN #5 Notre Dame at Home 16-14

Notre Dame lost an instant classic game at home to unranked Northern Illinois in a game which the Northern Illinois was paid $1.2 million to participate in.

The Fighting Irish entered the game as 28.5 point favorites, making this one of the biggest upsets in recent memory.

NIU held a 13-7 lead at halftime, but Notre Dame regained the lead in the 3rd quarter to go up 14-13.

With about 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter, Notre Dame QB Riley Leonard threw his 2nd interception of the game, which gave NIU great field position and only needing a field goal to take the lead.

After salting away almost the entire clock in an 11-play, 31-yard drive, NIU kicker Kanon Woodill hit a 35-yarder with 31 seconds remaining.

Notre Dame was able to barely get into NIU territory to give itself a 62-yard attempt in a last ditch effort, but it was ultimately blocked.

NIU was 0-14 all-time against Top 10 opponents coming into Saturday.

#7 Oregon Gets Past Boise State with Last Second Field Goal

After a close call with Idaho in Week 1, Oregon had a chance against Boise State to prove that this was minor rust and a blip on the radar.

However, #7 Oregon came into a game as 18.5 point favorites over Boise State and needed a 25-yard field goal as time expired to get past the Broncos.

To Oregon’s credit, though, QB Dillon Gabriel said after the game that as a team goes through adversity and you find a way to win – which Oregon has – it brings the team together and makes them stronger for the future.

Gabriel finished with 243 yards and two touchdowns on an efficient 18 for 21 passing.

For Boise State, RB Ashton Jeanty accounted for 200 total yards, with 192 of them coming from 25 carries. Jeanty also found the end zone three times on rushing plays.

Moving forward for Oregon, there are some clear aspects the Ducks need to improve on, as the team went 4-12 on third down and was outgained offensively, but was aided mightily by Noah Wittington’s 120 kick return yards on 2 returns and Tez Johnson’s 109 punt return yards on 2 punt returns.

Nebraska Defense Dominates Colorado’s Offense En Route to Controlling 28-10 Victory

The story coming into the Nebraska and Colorado matchup was largely based on the quarterback play of the two teams, with true freshman Dylan Raiola and potential top draft pick Shedeur Sanders taking up much of the oxygen in the room.

But it was Nebraska’s defense that stole the show, picking up 6 sacks and 10 tackles for loss. Colorado, including sacks, only had 16 rushing yards on the ground.

Sanders finished 23-for-38 with 244 yards, a touchdown, and an interception that was a Pick-Six for the Huskers. WR/CB star led all pass catchers with 10 catches for 110 yards.

Raiola finished 23-for-30 with 185 yards and a touchdown.

Iowa State Wins Cy-Hawk Rivalry 20-19 With Last Second Field Goal

Iowa State kicker Kyle Konrardy was the hero for the Cyclones yesterday as Iowa State got past #21 Iowa by a final score of 20-19.

With 6 seconds left, Konrardy made a 57-yard field goal to give Iowa State the win. Before that, though, ESPN gave Iowa a 94% chance to win the game at some point early in the 3rd quarter as Iowa was getting the ball back already up 13-0.

Iowa outgained Iowa State on the ground by a total of 204 to 89, but Iowa State did outgain Iowa, overall, by a total of 361 to 303. This was largely because Iowa QB Cade McNamara was 13-for-29 for 99 yards, no touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.

Dylan Raiola Mocks Shedeur Sanders After Win

Dylan Raiola and Nebraska beat Colorado, as covered above. And after the game, QB Dylan Raiola had some fun in the locker room.

Raiola mimicked the celebration flashing his watch, a celebration that Shedeur Sanders popularized. He is seen in the tweet above doing the celebration with former NFL players turned podcasters Will Compton and Taylor Lewan.

Nico Iamaleava On Slow Start Before Blowing Out #24 NC State

#14 Tennessee absolutely massacred #24 NC State by a final tally of 51-10. But it was a slow start for the Volunteers, who didn’t take a two-possession lead until late in the first half with an 85-yard pick-six which made it 17-3.

Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava started slow, including throwing an INT early in the second quarter. Ultimately, Iamaleava finished with over 250 total yards and 3 total TDs. In considering the slow start, Iamaleava spoke on the need to be able to move on and bounce back.

He especially noticed that there were some problems when he tried to be too aggressive and force the ball into some trickier situations.

Brent Venables on 16-12 Win Over Houston: We Deserved to Lose

Oklahoma narrowly escaped its game with Houston with a win, winning by a slim 16-12 margin. Following the game, coach Brent Venables spoke with the SEC Network and voiced his displeasure with the Sooners in a game it was expected to comfortably win and by a lot more than 4 points:

“We deserved to lose because we did everything you could possibly do to give somebody a chance to win. But they did find a way to win there. Great job by the d[efense] again there on that last drive to make them use the clock and get off the field with a victory.”

The Sooners only rushed for 2.6 yards per carry, and QB Jackson Arnold looked pedestrian in his performance of 19-for-32 with 171 yards, 2 TDs, and an INT.

Consensus 4-Star DL Myron Charles Flips from Florida State to Texas

Consensus 4-star DL Myron Charles flipped his commitment from Florida State to Texas yesterday after originally committing to Florida State in late June.

Charles took an official visit to Austin a few weeks before committing to the Seminoles, but the Longhorns remained active in his recruitment to try and earn a flipped commitment, and yesterday Charles announced his flip.

Charles ranks as high as 58th nationally and 4th at his position (On3 for both). Looking at the On3 composite rankings, Charles ranks 118th nationally and 10th at his position.

This is Texas’ 13th Blue Chip commitment and 20th commitment overall for a 2025 class which has rocketed up into 5th place nationally and 4th in the SEC behind only Alabama, LSU, and Georgia.

Florida State still has 10 Blue Chip commitments and 12 commitments overall, but has fallen to 15th nationally and 3rd in the ACC, 3 spots behind Miami and 2 spots behind Clemson nationally.

4-Star S Rashad Johnson Flips from Georgia to Texas A&M

4-Star S Rashad Johnson announced yesterday that he has flipped his commitment from Georgia to Texas A&M after originally committing to the Bulldogs back in mid-July.

Johnson previously had said that his relationship with coaches was going to be the biggest factor in where he eventually would choose to go, so it can reasonably be inferred that Johnson has a strong relationship with the Texas A&M staff who evidently did not give up on his recruitment after he committed to Georgia.

Johnson ranks 361st nationally and 33rd for his position according to the On3 composite rankings.

This is Texas A&M’s 15th Blue Chip commitment and 21st commitment overall for a 2025 class which ranks 9th nationally and 7th in the SEC.

Georgia loses one of its Blue Chip commitments but still has 18 of them, as well as 21 commitments overall for a 2025 class which ranks 4th nationally and 3rd in the SEC.
