Travis Hunter on Colorado’s Win: Gave Us A Lot of Hope

Colorado beat North Dakota State by a score of 31-26 on Thursday night in a game where Travis Hunter played otherworldly.

Hunter finished with 7 catches for 132 yards and three touchdowns, including the final touchdown, which proved decisive and will most definitely be on Hunter’s college highlight reel.

The game ended up coming down to the final play, as North Dakota State’s Cam Miller had a chance with a Hail Mary, but ultimately his pass was about five yards short after it was completed.

As for how the Buffaloes feel about their Week 1 win, Travis Hunter was on with Scott Van Pelt on SportsCenter right after the game finished and had a lot of optimistic things to say about the Buffaloes for the rest of 2024:

“It gave us a lot of hope. We know we’ve got to keep going in, keep watching film. It got the guys to know that we’ve got a good team right here. We’ve got to get the plan, we’ve got to get our eyes in the right spot. That’s how they got a lot of touchdowns tonight. We didn’t have our eyes in the right spot, we didn’t read our keys. So we know we’ve got to get back in there and go to work. … I just had a lot of confidence in myself. I told my coach, ‘Third down, give me the ball. We’re gonna win this game. We’re gonna get up out of here.’ I did what I had to do – catch the ball, get a touchdown, and let’s go.”

UNC QB Max Johnson Carted Off Field Vs. Minnesota

North Carolina QB Max Johnson suffered a scary injury in the 3rd quarter of the Tar Heels’ season opener against Minnesota. Johnson dropped back to pass and has his knee buckle underneath a defender as he was tackled.

Johnson was seen grabbing his right knee in obvious pain as medical personnel tended to his injuries. He needed to be helped onto a cart to be carted off the field.

Deion Sanders On Close Game: I Feel Good About the Ball in Shedeur’s Hands

In a close win over North Dakota State, Colorado coach Deion Sanders was asked about some of the positives that he took away from the game, as well as what makes a difference in a close game.

As for Coach Prime’s answer, he said that a lot of things can make a big difference, but he feels good about the Buffaloes and where they are as a team. He especially feels confident in his son, Shedeur, saying that he feels good when the ball is in 2’s hands.

Sanders also took some time to compliment the rush defense, pointing out that they were stacking the box and did a good job preventing North Dakota State from running the ball all that well. Ultimately North Dakota State quarterback Cam Miller made some nice throws, but the gameplan was seemingly to take away North Dakota State’s bread-and-butter – the run game – which the Buffaloes did.

Coach Prime said, “offensively, we’ve just got to score each and every drive. We’ve got our adjustments and we game planned. We fixed everything now.”

Injury Reports Coming to SEC

The SEC has officially approved an injury/availability reporting system for football, baseball, and both men’s and women’s basketball.

Under the new system, personnel must submit reports three days before each game with daily updates leading up to a final report 90 minutes before the game starts. For the other sports, reports are to be filed the night before a game, as well an update on game day.

The designations will include available, probable, doubtful, and questionable. As for game days, the designations will be available, game-time decision, or out. The designations specifically were designed to be similar to the NFL. Punishments for inaccuracy or late reporting will be between $15,000 to $25,000 for basketball and baseball and between $25,000 and $100,000 for football.

Eli Holstein Named Pitt Starting QB

According to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Eli Holstein has been named Pitt’s starting quarterback ahead of their Week 1 matchup against Kent State.

Holstein transferred to Pitt from Alabama after being a consensus 4-star QB in the class of 2023. In winning the job, Holstein beat out Nate Yarnell, who started in Pitt’s final two games last season.

Holstein spent one year with Alabama, never seeing the field after being behind Jalen Milroe, Ty Simpson, Dylan Lonergan, and Julian Sayin on the depth chart.

Clemson CBs Shelton Lewis & Jeadyn Lukus Listed As Day-to-Day

Ahead of Clemson’s game against Georgia on Saturday night, Dabo Swinney opened up a little bit more on the availability of two key defenders: CBs Shelton Lewis and Jeadyn Lukus.

When talking about Lewis, Swinney shared “He’s been day-to-day for the last couple weeks. And he’s still day-to-day. He’s still getting better every day.”

Then, a reporter named Chapel Fowler asked about Lukus, to which Swinney replied “Yep. And me too. We’re all day-to-day around here. … You are too, Chapel. Don’t think you’re not … We’re all just hoping that we get another day tomorrow. That’s all I’m hoping for. One day at a time.”

So, suffice to say that even though Week 1 hasn’t happened yet for Clemson, there are already concerns over the overall health/wear and tear of the roster.

TreVeyon Henderson: Thankful Quinshon Judkins is at Ohio State to Split Carries with Him

Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson shared that he is thankful for Quinshon Judkins sharing the running back room with him.

After Quinshon Judkins transferred in as one of the top transfers for the most recent portal class, there was some discussion over what the Buckeyes running back room would look like as Henderson and Judkins would have to share carries. At least as of now, it would appear it is still a happy room.

Henderson said that Judkins and him push each other to get better every day, so he’s grateful for that opportunity and experience.

Brent Pry Speaks on Week 0 Struggles Around ACC

Week 0 was a tough week for the ACC, specifically for #10 Florida State and SMU, who both severely unperformed against teams they were favored over.

Brent Pry took this opportunity to show to his Virginia Tech Hokies that preseason hype does not matter. “It’s just noise. It really can’t affect the way we practice, the way we work, the way we trust the process. We got to remain humble, we got to remain hungry.”

“We get to control what we can control and for the most part, our guys have done a good job about that.”

Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka Reflects on Responsibilities as a Team Captain

For Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka, he has racked up over 100 catches and almost 1,700 receiving yards in the last two seasons combined. Now, as a captain for the Buckeyes, Egbuka also recently reflected on what it means to be a leader for the team as more than just a wide receiver.

For Egbuka, he sees it through the lens of Christianity. “I view my responsibility as captain and just as a person is to push everybody closer to Christ and by doing that I try to walk as close to Christ as I can myself.”

By being the guy who represents all of the values in The Bible, Egbuka hopes that will naturally make him a better leader, person, football player, etc.

Howard Coach Larry Scott Seemingly Upset with Rutgers’ Last Second TD

Rutgers took down Howard in their season opener by a score of 44-7.

However, the Scarlet Knights had a 37-7 lead with less than a minute to go before punching in one final touchdown with mere seconds left in the game.

Following the game, the coaches shook hands but Coach Scott looked less than pleased with Rutgers Coach Greg Schiano, gesturing towards the end zone while sharing some words.
