Liberty Maintains Regular Season Win Streak in 31-24 OT Win Over FIU

Liberty beat FIU by a final tally of 31-24 in overtime to extend its regular season win streak to 17.

Liberty led by as much as 14 with under 7 minutes to go, but after a pair of FIU touchdowns in the final 6:23 – the Panthers’ first points in over 2 quarters – the game was knotted up and headed to OT.

Liberty ultimately had tactical precision in OT, scoring on just four rushes on a drive punctuated by a 9-yard Kaidon Salter run. Liberty would finish the game by recovering a fumble from FIU QB Keyone Jenkins on 3rd & 3.

Liberty RB Quinton Cooley was quite the workhorse, finishing with 174 yards rushing and 2 rushing touchdowns on 29 carries, while QB Kaidon Salter contributed a pair of rushing touchdowns of his own. Salter finished 9-for-16 passing with 125 passing yards and 60 rushing yards on 12 carries.

FIU QB Keyone Jenkins did finish 19-for-29 with 245 passing yards and an interception. All three of the Panthers’ touchdowns came on the ground, with one contributed from each of Kejon Owens, Keyone Jenkins, and Dean Patterson

4-Star WR Joshua Moore Flips from Florida to Miami

Near consensus 4-star WR Joshua Moore flipped his commitment from Florida to Miami yesterday after originally committing to the Gators back on June 26th.

Florida State was also heavily in the mix back when Moore originally committed to Florida, but Moore never closed the door on communicating with any of the schools as he continued the process. Moore possesses both size and speed that is appealing, standing at 6’4” and apparently showing an accelerate and top-end speed that should make him both a threat vertically and as a route runner.

Moore is ranked highest by On3, who places him 41st nationally and 8th at the WR position, while the On3 industry composite places Moore 129th nationally and 17th at the WR position.

This is Miami’s 14th 4-star in the 2025 class for a class which now has 22 commitments, ranks 10th overall nationally, and ranks 1st in the ACC. Florida losing the commitment of Moore means Florida now has 6 4-star commitments and 12 commitments overall for a 2025 class which ranks 29th nationally and 13th in the SEC.

NCAA Division I Committee Shortens Portal from 45 to 30 Days

The NCAA Division I Committee voted yesterday to shorten the college football and basketball transfer portal windows from 45 days to 30 days.

This means that in the past couple of years, the transfer portal window has decreased from 60 days to 30. Players still are given a 30-day window to transfer a coach’s departure.

For college football players, there is now a 20-day window in the winter to enter the transfer portal and a 10-day window in the spring to enter the transfer portal. For now, the existence of the spring transfer portal window does not mean it is going to exist forever – the fact the reports even exist that the option of deleting the spring transfer portal window for football and only having one transfer portal window are still possible is telling and should be noted for future reference as the NCAA Division I Committee’s transfer portal rules continue to adapt to the changing landscape of college sports.

Georgia WR Colbie Young Arrested For Battery and Assault on an Unborn Child

Georgia WR Colbie Young was arrested overnight in Athens last night for battery and assault on an unborn child, a pair of misdemeanor charges.

As of 8 AM Tuesday, he remained incarcerated with a bond amount set at $2,500. As of the time of writing, those are the only details that are currently available, though more details should be available shortly.

Georgia Coach Kirby Smart did acknowledge the situation in a press conference, stating that “it’s a pending legal matter. I don’t have any answers right now. I haven’t even had a chance to talk to him yet. So, I can’t answer any questions about it right now.”

As for how this impacts Georgia, specifically, Young is Georgia’s 4th leading receiver with 11 receptions for 149 yards and a couple touchdowns. Early in the season, Coach Smart did share that Young has continued to grow and get better on the field, and he’s going to be needed for the offense to do well.

Brent Venables on Red River Shootout: Brings Out All the Emotions

Oklahoma coach Brent Venables is no stranger to the passion of the Red River Rivalry, and he expects nothing to be different this weekend, as the Sooners and Longhorns play in the 120th iteration of the rivalry.

Looking back on last season’s contest, which saw OU emerge victorious by a final score of 34-30, Coach Venables had praise for linebacker Danny Stutsman. Stutsman had a passionate pre-game speech which showed the caliber of leader he is and what sort of emotion he is able to inspire his teammates to play with.

Of Stutsman, Coach Venables said: “he’s what you want in an alpha and he backs it up with how he plays. … We circle that speech, but if you had a mic everywhere paying attentions, that’s who Danny always is.”

Thinking on the Red River game, though, Coach Venables says that this is a game that brings out all the emotions. The two teams kick-off in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas at 3:30 PM ET this Saturday for a game which finds Texas as 14.5 point favorites, but it’s very likely that both teams are going to have no problems getting hyped up for this one.
