Florida QB DJ Lagway Injury Update: “Significant” Hamstring Injury
Towards the end of the first half, Florida QB DJ Lagway hit the ground grabbing his left leg before being carted off and not returning for the rest of the game. For the second half, the QB was on crutches on the sideline as walk-on Aidan Warner played the rest of the game.
Coach Billy Napier confirmed at halftime that Lagway suffered what Coach Napier described as a “significant” hamstring injury.
Napier shared that “it’s [a] soft tissue [injury],” and that, “we’ll have more for you next week.”
As information becomes available, it will be shared here, as Lagway was having a solid true freshman campaign with the Gators considering the context of the difficult schedule.
Texas A&M Names Marcel Reed Starter for Remainder of 2024 Season
Texas A&M Coach Mike Elko shared with ABC’s Molly McGrath before the game that Marcel Reed being announced the starting QB for Texas A&M before the South Carolina game was a decision for the remainder of the season and not just the game against the Gamecocks.
McGrath spoke with running back Le’Veon Moss about the decision, and Moss said, “every time [Reed] steps onto the field, something good happens. He’s an underrated thrower, his running ability opens up more holes for our running backs to make plays.”
Reed was a large reason for the Texas A&M offense turning itself around LSU last week, as the offense looked ineffectual with Weigman in until Reed came in and led the Aggies on several scoring drives.
4-Star S Jordan Young Commits to Clemson
4 Star Saftey Jordan Young Commits to Clemson!!!!!

Consensus 4-Star S Jordan Young committed to Clemson over the weekend over NC State, Michigan, and other offers.
Before he visited Clemson on October 19th, Young was set to commit to in-state NC State, the school he always saw himself playing at. But after visiting Clemson, that all changed – he wanted to commit to Coach Dabo Swinney and the family of the Clemson Tigers.
Young is a consensus 4-star by the major recruiting services, with ESPN ranking him the highest of the four at 106th nationally and 9th at his position. The On3 industry composite ranks him 186th nationally and 14th at his position.
This is Clemson’s 8th 4-star and 14th commitment overall in the 2025 class, a class which ranks 16th nationally and 2nd in the ACC behind only Miami.
UL Monroe Releases Statement Condemning Assistant Coach’s Actions
UL Monroe OL Coach Cameron Blankenship went viral – and not for a good reason – during the Warhawks’ loss to Marshall after Blankenship can be seen on the sideline upset with OL Drew Hutchinson, going so far as to make physical contact and appearing to shove Hutchinson.
Hard coaching is usually perfectly acceptable, but this appeared to cross a line, as another ULM player came in to create space between Blankenship and Hutchinson as Hutchinson kept his cool and did not react to Blankenship’s outburst.
ULM released a statement, stating, in part: “this behavior is unacceptable and not how ULM football conducts business. There will be disciplinary action taken against the assistant coach.”

4-Star IOL Alai Kalaniuvalu flipped his commitment from Oregon to BYU over the weekend after originally committing to Oregon back in July.
Oregon originally earned his commitment a couple months before his borderline 5-star high school teammate, OL Douglas Utu, also committed. But now Kalaniuvalu has decided to flip to a BYU team with a lot of momentum on and off the field, as 3-star OT Austin Pay also committed to the Cougars.
Kalaniuvalu is not quite a consensus 4-star, as On3 rates him more modestly a 3-star (87). According to ESPN, he is the top player at his positional designation, but ESPN splits up centers and guards.
According to the On3 industry composite, Kalaniuvalu ranks 271st nationally and 20th at his position designation.
This is BYU’s lone Blue Chip commitment in the 2025 class, a class with 18 commitments. The Cougars’ 2025 class is also ranked 62nd nationally and is ranked 14th out of 16 in the Big 12.
Texas A&M RB Le’Veon Moss suffered a knee injury against South Carolina early on in the game, coming back to the sidelines later in the game in street clothes.
The concern immediately went to Moss’ availability down the stretch as the Aggies look to be in contention in both the SEC and the newly-expanded College Football Playoff. The good news is that Coach Mike Elko shared after the game that the injury is not quite as bad as initially thought on the field.
However, there is not more information available as to the exact nature of the injury or the timetable for Moss’ return. Good news for Aggies fans – Texas A&M does have a bye week this week, and then a home game against New Mexico State which should be a comfortable Aggies win regardless of Moss’ availability. Texas A&M does then travel to Auburn before hosting Texas in the return of that rivalry game.
Mike Norvell on Florida State’s Problems: I’m Sick For Everybody That Has to Watch … It’s My Job to Get It Fixed
Florida State lost to North Carolina this past weekend 35-11 to drop to 1-8 on the season. It also means the Seminoles finished the season 1-7 in ACC play, as the only games left are against Notre Dame, Charleston Southern, and Florida, all non-conference opponents.
The article linked above has an extensive quote from Coach Mike Norvell on his frustrations and belief in both the players and the process of the program.
Some relevant quotes, though, include:
“I absolutely believe in it. I’ve lived it. I’ve been through it. I’ve seen the highs and lows in the game of football, and hell, in the game of life, just to be honest with you. I know and believe in what can be done, how it can be done. I don’t need a motivational speech or even an encouraging word. I don’t care. It doesn’t matter to me. I know what it needs to look like. I know how you need to work. I know how you need to apply the lessons that are learned, and I damn sure know that I can do that, and I know that I can put together a team and a group that absolutely can respond to that, and we have not done a good enough job of that, and I do believe in those players in there.”
He also shared, “When it comes to confidence, I absolutely believe. I’ve been knocked down before. I’ve been a part of losing streaks. I’ve been a part of challenging times, injuries, things that you’ve faced. I know how to rise up out of that, and I fully believe that we’re going to, and I fully believe there’s going to be a lot of guys in that locker room that are going to be leading the charge when it comes to that. …”
“Apologies don’t – it is what it is. I’m sick for everybody that has to watch what we put on display, because they deserve better, and so do those kids, to be honest with you. So do the coaches, too. For the reasons that have – the reasons that it’s showed up and it’s been as disappointing as it is, we’ve got to take ownership of it. It’s my job to get it fixed.”
As mentioned, there is much, much more to that lengthy quote in the linked article above. Evidently, there’s a lot going on in Mike Norvell’s head as he tries to figure out what’s going wrong and how to fix it for the future.

2026 4-star S Matt Sieg committed to Penn State over the weekend over offers from the likes of Pitt, USC, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and others.
For Sieg, he said that it’s going to be a dream come true when he gets to put on the Penn State uniform and run out in front of 107,000 fans for the in-state Nittany Lions.
Sieg is only rated a 3-star by On3 (87), with the other sites rating him a 4-star. He ranks as high as 137th nationally (247) and 13th at his position (247, Rivals). The On3 industry composite ranks him 233rd nationally and 20th at his position.
Though it’s still early for the 2026 class, Penn State’s class is already starting to fill as Sieg is the 5th Blue Chip commitment and 7th commitment overall for a class which ranks 7th nationally of the 24 with enough commitments to warrant a ranking.
