Scootin’ Tuten’s Record Breaking Night Propels Virginia Tech Past Boston College 42-21

By the end of the night, Virginia Tech Bhayshul Tuten would finish with 266 rushing yards on 18 carries to go with 4 total touchdowns (3 rush, 1 rec) to lead the Hokies to a 42-21 victory over Boston College. 266 rushing yards is the most in school history.

Of the game, Tuten said: “Every game is a special game. That’s how I look at it. I just felt a little better today. We had a bye week. I felt great throughout practice. I took the knee brace off. I felt fast, I felt good, I felt fluid. I just came out and balled today, and that’s what we needed.”

After the game, Boston College coach Bill O’Brien put the onus on the coaches, saying that the team has good players who were not put in the right situation by the coaches. Boston College QB Thomas Castellanos finished 17-for-26 with 205 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also added 58 rushing yards on 20 carries. RB Turbo Richard led all Eagles with 64 rushing yards on 9 carries. Jeremiah Franklin and Treshaun Ward were the two Eagles to catch touchdown passes last night, too.

For the Hokies, QB Kyron Drones finished 14-for-18 with 164 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. He also ran for two touchdowns and 40 rushing yards on 10 carries. Both he and Tuten lost a fumble.

Boston College ultimately won the turnover battle 3-2, but Virginia Tech seriously outgained Boston College both overall and on a per play basis: 535-383; 9.73-5.32.

Marshall’s AJ Turner Powers the Thundering Herd Past Georgia State 35-20

Marshall RB AJ Turner finished with 4 total touchdowns to help the Thundering Herd run by Georgia State 35-20. Turner finished with 177 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns on 15 carries. He also added a 30-yard catch for a touchdown on his lone reception of the night.

Marshall scored the first 18 and last 10 points of the game to hold off Georgia State as both teams gained exactly 427 yards on the night. Marshall QB Braylon Braxton finished 11-for-20 with 132 yards passing, a passing touchdown, and an interception. Braxton also finished with 72 rushing yards on 13 carries.

Of the 11 completions, 4 went to TE Toby Payne (4 rec, 53 yds), and 3 went to WR Christian Fitzpatrick (3 rec, 36 yds). The one touchdown, as mentioned, went to RB AJ Turner.

Georgia State QB Zach Gibson finished 19-for-32 for 192 yards and 2 touchdowns – both to RB Michael Dukes. Dukes finished with 6 carries for 41 rushing yards and 7 catches for 58 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. RB Freddie Brock led all Panthers with 124 rushing yards on 18 carries. QB Zach Gibson also added 35 rushing yards on 10 carries.

2026 5-Star QB Jared Curtis Decommits from Georgia

2026 5-Star QB Jared Curtis decommitted from Georgia yesterday after originally committing to the Bulldogs back in March.

Curtis said yesterday that he spoke with Coach Smart and Coach Bobo and let them know that he wanted to explore all of his options even though he still loved Georgia. Curtis has offers from pretty much every big program out there, like Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, and others.

ESPN ranks Curtis as the 4th ranked player nationally and top QB, but every recruiting service has Curtis in the Top 18 nationally and Top 3 at the QB position. According to the On3 industry composite, he ranks 8th nationally and 2nd at his position.

In the 2026 class, Georgia is now down to 2 commitments – a pair of 4 stars – but the recruiting class is still obviously young.

Oklahoma State Reportedly Benching QB Alan Bowman for Garret Rangel

According to Ashton Slaughter of the O’Colly, Oklahoma State QB Alan Bowman is being benched for backup QB Garret Rangel. QB Zane Flores will be backing up Rangel, meaning that Bowman is officially done with the Cowboys as its quarterback.

Oklahoma State opened Big 12 play with 3 consecutive conference losses, in which Bowman had a completion percentage barely over 50% while also throwing 6 interceptions.

Given that this is his 7th season of college football and he has played in 46 games, these are results that are simply unacceptable for the Cowboys, who now turn to Rangel. Rangel has played in relief for Bowman once this season, and the results were not exactly inspiring: 3-for-11 for 31 yards. But, Rangel was a 4-star in the class of 2022, so with more time preparing as the starter, Oklahoma State is undoubtedly hoping that Rangel can play up to his Blue Chip billing and provide some optimism for the rest of the 2024 season and beyond for Oklahoma State.

Consensus 2026 4-Star DB J’Zavien Currence Commits to South Carolina

Consensus 4-star DB in the 2026 class, J’Zavien Currence, committed to South Carolina yesterday over an offer list that includes Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, and others.

Currence shared that he went to Sotuh Carolina over 10 times and he feels that Coach Shane Beamer is building something really special there that he wants to be a part of.

Currence ranks as high as 85th nationally (ESPN) and 9th for his position (On3, 247). According to the On3 industry composite, Currence ranks 103rd nationally and 10th at his position.

This is South Carolina’s 4th Blue Chip commitment and 5th commitment overall for a 2026 class which currently ranks 7th nationally for the programs with enough commitments to be ranked by On3 this early.

Colorado Coach Deion Sanders on What’s Different About This Year’s Colorado Team

Colorado is currently 4-2 after 6 games for the second year in a row after finishing last season 4-8, but Coach Sanders believes this team is different.

As for what’s different, Coach Sanders said, “the coaching staff is tremendously different. Very talented. Truly smart, intelligent, and understands what we have inside this locker room. The young men we have on this team is truly different. I think you can tell that by at least five scouts coming to practice every day.”

As for the coaching staff, only himself, RBs Coach Gary Harrell, LBs Coach Andre’ Hart, and CBs Coach Kevin Mathis were on the staff last year and this year, so he definitely did overhaul the staff. For the most part, though, Coach Sanders doesn’t believe in focusing on the past, and would rather focus on the future:

“This is a whole new day, whole new year, whole new time, whole new thought process, whole new outlook on life, and I don’t look at yesterday and compare those two. … But this is a whole different team, and I’m proud to coach it. I really am.”

Florida’s Billy Napier on QB Depth After Mertz’s Season Ending Injury

After QB Graham Mertz suffered a season-ending injury, true freshman DJ Lagway is now unquestionably the starting quarterback for the Gators.

Redshirt freshman Aidan Warner is now Lagway’s backup, though. On the situation, Coach Billy Napier shared that, “we’ve been in similar situations in the past with Anthony [Richardson].”

Of Warner, Coach Napier shared that, “Aidan just got here in January and was injured in the spring, but he has impressed us with his – has really developed quite a bit and showed promise since coming back off the knee and being available for all of summer and training camp.”

2026 4-Star QB Helaman Casuga Commits to Texas A&M

2026 4-star QB Helaman Casuga committed to Texas A&M yesterday over offers from prominent west coast schools like USC, Oregon, and Utah, among other offers.

Casuga said of his decision: “I believe that they’re building some special down there. Obviously I want to be part of the Elko era. He’s done so many great things at Duke and now he’s showing he’s capable of doing it at a SEC school. That’s very impressive.”

Casuga is rated a 4-star by 247 and Rivals, as well as the On3 industry composite, which ranks him 144th nationally and 14th for the QB position in the 2026 class.

This is Texas A&M’s first Blue Chip commitment and 3rd commitment overall for the still-young 2026 class.

4-Star OT Aaron Dunn Decommits from Utah

4-Star OT Aaron Dunn has decommitted from Utah after originally committing to the Utes back in early August when he chose them over Oregon, USC, and others offers.

Above is his decision to decommit which he posted to Twitter/X, and this is quite the loss for the Utes. Dunn was supposed to be Utah’s prized recruit in a class that otherwise was lacking some big names at the top.

Dunn is nearly a consensus 4-star, as On3 rates him as high as it can for a 3-star without giving him a 4th star (89). According to the On3 industry composite, however, Dunn is a clear 4-star, is ranked 223rd nationally, and is ranked 18th at his position.

Utah is now down to 17 commitments, all 3-stars, and is all the way down to 53rd nationally for its 2025 recruiting class nationally and 11th out of 16 in the Big 12.
