According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, former 4-star TE Davon Mitchell is planning to enter the transfer portal.
According to SoonerScoop, Mitchell missed several team activities in the last few weeks. He did not see the field in 2024, though, there was some expectation that he might be able to get on the field as a true freshman.
Mitchell was originally in the class of 2025, but re-classified in July of 2023, so he’s a year younger than most of his fellow redshirt freshmen.
Coming out of high school, Mitchell chose the Sooners over Miami and Alabama, while also holding offers from the likes of Texas, Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas A&M, and others. And he ranked as high as 66th nationally and 4th at his position (ESPN).
