Notre Dame Wins in All 3 Phases of the Game, Beats Georgia 23-10 in Sugar Bowl to Advance to CFP Semifinal
Notre Dame beat Georgia 23-10 to advance to the CFP Semifinals against Penn State.
Georgia got on the board first with a field goal, but then Notre Dame proceeded to score 20 unanswered points.
The first touchdown of the game came following a fumble deep in Georgia territory as the Bulldogs tried to get aggressive at the end of the first half, and Notre Dame scored on a 13-yard pass from Riley Leonard to Beaux Collins just one play later. Right after halftime, Notre Dame scored its second touchdown, returning a kickoff 98 yards to give the Irish a 20-3 lead.
Georgia mounted a 63-yard drive to cut the lead to 10, but after a 47-yard field goal, the scoring was done at 23-10.
Georgia actually outgained Notre Dame 296-240, but was 2/15 on conversion downs and lost the turnover battle 2-0.
QB Gunner Stockton was 20/32 for 234 yards and a touchdown. Struggling to run consistently, RBs Trevor Etienne (11/38) and Nate Frazier (4/37) combined for just 75 rushing yards.
Arian Smith was the game’s leading receiver despite only having one catch (1/67), with Cash Jones (2/37/1) catching Georgia’s lone touchdown.
For Notre Dame, QB Riley Leonard did not have a day which jumps off the stat sheet statistically, but he composed himself well and gave the exact effort Notre Dame needed to lead the Fighting Irish offense. Leonard was 15/24 for 90 yards and a touchdown while leading all rushers in this game with 80 yards on 14 carries. Jadarian Price (10/37) and Jermeiyah Love (6/19) also struggled to get anything going on the ground. Through the air, Jordan Faison (4/46) got a majority of the yards.
#14 Ole Miss Dominates Duke 52-20 in TaxSlayer Gator Bowl
#14 Ole Miss absolutely dominated Duke 52-20 in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl in a game where Ole Miss played like they had something to prove. Almost as though they were trying to show that they belonged in the Playoff, even if Alabama and South Carolina were going to fall short during bowl season.
The Rebels had over 300 more yards than Duke, finishing with an advantage of 589 to 280.
Duke QB Henry Belin IV finished 25/44 with 236 yards, 2 touchdowns, and an interception. RBs Peyton Jones (8/18) and Jaquez Moore (9/10) also did little against that stout Ole Miss DL. Jordan Moore (5/63/1), Eli Pancol (5/57), and Que’Sean Brown (4/51) were the Blue Devils’ leading receivers.
For Ole Miss, it was really the Jaxson Dart and Jordan Watkins show.
Dart was 27/35 for 404 yards and 4 touchdowns, with Watkins finishing with 7/180/2 receiving. Dart also finished with 43 rushing yards, while Ulysses Bentley IV finished with a game-high 14/70/2. Dae’Quan Wright (3/73/1) and Cayden Lee (8/57) also excelled in the receiving game.
With the win, Ole Miss finishes 10-3, giving the Rebels consecutive 10-win seasons for only the second time ever and the first time since 1959-60, and three 10-win seasons in the last 4 seasons. 21 wins over the last two seasons is the most in Ole Miss history.

Andy Bitter of Tech Sideline shared that Coach Pry has said that well-respected coach and defensive mind, Bud Foster, will be returning to Virginia Tech to work, but will not be taking on a role as the DC.
Foster retired back in 2019 after having been the Defensive Coordinator from 1995 to 2019. During this time, he was considered to be one of the best DCs in the game.
Now, it is expected his role is going to be an extra pair of eyes in the press box thanks to the expansion of how many people can have access to a headset during a game.
