Oregon and Dan Lanning Agree to Contract Extension that Makes Him Top 5 Paid Coach

According to Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger, Coach Dan Lanning and Oregon agreed to a new contract extension which is for 6 years and will lead to Coach Lanning getting paid an additional $2M annually.

Coach Lanning is now making an average of $11M annually, which is Top 5 of the reported contracts. The buyout did not change – that is still at around $20M.

Since taking over as a first time Head Coach, Coach Lanning is 35-6 as a head coach, including going 13-1 and winning the Big Ten in 2024.

Auburn, Baylor Move Season Opener to Friday, August 29th

Auburn Live’s Justin Hokanson shared that Auburn and Baylor have agreed to move the 2025 season opener in Waco to Friday, August 29th.

Hokanson also reported that this move has been in the works for awhile. One possible thought is that by moving the game to Friday night, there could be some extra TV exposure, while also allowing for an extra day of rest ahead of their games the following week.

LSU Hiring Former DL Kyle Williams for DL Coach Job

Coach Williams was most recently coaching as the DC for his alma mater, Ruston High School. He was on the 2003 LSU team that won the National Championship.

Williams spent 13 years in the pros, including 6 as a Pro Bowler.

In his time with LSU, Williams played in 46 games, finishing with 16.5 sacks and 26 tackles for loss.

Wilson Alexander of The Advocate reported that Coach Williams was being targeted for the job, with 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz first reporting that he accepted the job.

Billy Napier With Interesting Update on QB DJ Lagway

Florida is about to start spring practice, but Coach Billy Napier shared with local reporters that QB DJ Lagway is going to be limited in his throwing.

247Sports’ Graham Hall shared a brief quote from Coach Napier on the matter: “I think our intentions here are to be very smart. He’ll be limited in throwing activities, but he’ll participate in all practices otherwise.”

Lagway dealt with some hamstring injuries as a true freshman, but any sort of injuries that would limit his throwing capabilities are news.

Bill Belichick Opens Up on Roster Management Concerns with Spring Transfer Portal

New North Carolina Coach Bill Belichick is going to go through his first transfer portal window as the spring window is soon to open. As for what he’s expecting, Coach Belichick shared, “I really don’t have any expectations. We’ll see. I don’t know. We’ll go out there and do what we do and see how it goes. I think what you’re saying could or could not happen. That’ll be up to each individual and just how things go.”

As for how to be best prepared, he shared, “I know we have a good plan. I know we can do the right things to help the players improve, help the team improve, and put a good product on the field. Everybody that can help us and buys into and wants to be part of it will be part of it that’s here. If they don’t, then that’s their decision. We want to be a national school, and we are a national school. It is a national brand, and everybody wants to go to Carolina.”

Baylor RB Richard Reese Plans to Enter Portal

Baylor RB Richard Reese shared on X yesterday evening that he plans to enter the transfer portal after 3 years with the Bears.

Reese was the 2022 Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year after rushing for nearly 1,000 yards as a true freshman. After going from 972 yards and 14 touchdowns as a true freshman, to 306 yards and 2 touchdowns (plus almost 400 kick return yards and another 2 return touchdowns) as a sophomore, and then to 241 yards and a touchdown as a junior, Reese is going to look elsewhere for his final season of eligibility.

Consensus 4-Star LB Izayia Williams Commits to Florida

Consensus 4-star LB Izayia Williams committed to Florida yesterday over offers from Alabama, Georgia, and others, while also having previously committed to Syracuse and Florida State.

Williams shared with On3, “I grew up a fan of the Gators and I can’t turn the opportunity to play at Florida down. … I can’t lie, as soon as Florida offered, I knew back then. I grew up loving the program.”

Williams ranks as high as 12th nationally and 1st at the LB position according to On3, but the On3 industry composite ranks Williams 42nd nationally and 3rd at the LB position.

For Florida, this is the 2nd Blue Chip commitment and 3rd commitment overall for the 2026 class, a class which ranks 12th nationally and 7th in the SEC.

Consensus 4-Star RB Ezavier Crowell Names Top 6 Programs

Consensus 4-star RB Ezavier Crowell shared with On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he has named his Top 6 programs.

For Corwell, he has narrowed it down to Alabama, Florida State, Texas, Georgia, Auburn, and Ohio State.

The running back recently re-classed into the Class of 2026, and he’s worked quick booking official visits to Georgia (May 30), Texas (June 6), Auburn (June 13), Florida State (June 15), Alabama (June 20).

Crowell ranks in the top 34 nationally for 3 of the recruiting services, with Rivals naming him the top RB. The On3 industry composite ranks him 28th nationally and 2nd at the RB position.

4-Star IOL Zyon Guiles Sets Commitment Date

Nearly consensus 4-star IOL Zyon Guiles shared with On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he is planning to announce his commitment on March 21st between his Top 7 programs.

Guiles is choosing between Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Clemson, Tennessee, Alabama, and Florida State, with the first 4 programs all being places he has scheduled an official visit to for this summer.

Guiles ranks as high as 3rd at the IOL position according to On3, with the On3 industry composite ranking him 129th nationally and 7th at the IOL position.
