South Alabama QB Gio Lopez Expected to Enter the Transfer Portal

South Alabama QB Gio Lopez is reportedly planning to enter the transfer portal after spending two seasons with the Jaguars.

Lopez was All-Sun Belt Honorable Mention for his first season as the full-time starter in 2024.

In 2024, he finished with 2,559 passing yards, 18 passing touchdowns to just 5 interceptions, while also contributing 465 rushing yards and 7 rushing touchdowns.

Lopez was South Alabama’s QB for both of South Alabama’s ever bowl wins.

Some have speculated online about a connection between Lopez and North Carolina, potentially, but it’s unclear, more officially, where Lopez is expected to land.

Productive Troy RB Damien Taylor Expected to Enter Transfer Portal

Troy RB Damien Taylor is reportedly planning to enter the transfer portal to play his final season of eligibility elsewhere.

Taylor has 1,386 career rushing yards and 9 touchdowns, including last season’s 1,010 yard and 7 touchdown season.

For his performance last season, Taylor was named All-Sun Belt Second Team.

Alabama OC Reveals Ty Simpson in Lead for QB Battle

Alabama OC Ryan Grubb revealed to BamaOnline’s Charlie Potter that “if we’re playing a football game tomorrow, Ty Simpson would start.”

Simpson has been in competition with Austin Mack and true freshman 5-star Keelon Russell.

Simpson was a 5-star in the Class of 2022, and he has since appeared in 16 games where he’s thrown a career 50 passes, with 29 completions for 381 yards. He has no passing touchdowns and no interceptions, but has rushed for 3 scores and 130 yards on 22 attempts.

Mack was 4-star QB in the Class of 2023 when he originally committed to Coach DeBoer and Coach Grubb at Washington, before transferring to Alabama. Mack appeared in one game last season, going 2-for-3 for 39 yards and a touchdown.

Russell was the most highly touted of the 3, being named a consensus 5-star, and ranking 2nd nationally, behind only Bryce Underwood.

Stanford Transfer WR Emmett Mosley Signs with Texas

Stanford transfer WR Emmett Mosley has signed with Texas, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

Mosley played in 9 games as a true freshman at Stanford, meaning he will have 3 seasons of eligibility (with 1 additional redshirt year possible).

In his nine games, Mosley finished 2nd on the team (behind NFL Draft prospect, Elic Ayomanor) with 48 catches for 525 yards and 6 touchdowns (which tied Ayomanor).

He also had a standout performance against then-ranked #19 Louisville when Mosley went off for 13 catches for 168 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Maxx Crosby Named Asst GM of Eastern Michigan Football

All-Pro EDGE Maxx Crosby was named Assistant GM of the Eastern Michigan football program yesterday, according to a press release from the EMU program.

Crosby shared, “there is no place more important to my personal and athletic development than Eastern Michigan University. It truly is an honor for me to not only be named the Assistant GM of EMU, but together with my wife Rachel, make another donation aimed at creating opportunities for other athletes to be impacted by the EMU program, community, students, and alumni.”

The University announced, in part, “Crosby, the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, will assist with evaluating high school and transfer portal prospects and help manage the team’s NIL/revenue share budget. He will also serve as a Special Assistant to the Athletic Director on fundraising, alumni relations, and student-athlete support.”

Purdue LB Hudson Miller Enters Transfer Portal

Purdue LB Hudson Miller announced yesterday his plans to enter the transfer portal after spending three seasons, including a redshirt year, with the Boilermakers. The LB will have 2 seasons of eligibility remaining.

Miller was an unranked prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle (according to the On3 composite), but he developed over time to play in 24 games throughout his Purdue career. In 2024, Miller appeared in 12 games and finished with 42 tackles, 2 passes defended, 1 TFL, and 0.5 sacks.

3-Star LB Tony Williams Commits to Illinois

3-star LB Tony Williams committed to Illinois yesterday over offers from Miami, Missouri, SMU, and more.

His commitment comes a couple weeks before his official visit to Illinois, but he currently has an official visit to SMU also lined up for June 20th.

Williams is a 4-star according to both On3 and Rivals, but his On3 industry composite ranking places him 432nd nationally and 33rd at the LB position.

For Illinois, this is the 13th commitment for the Illini’s 2026 class, a class which ranks 18th nationally and 5th in the Big Ten behind only USC, Ohio State, Oregon, and Penn State.

3-Star WR Bubba Frazier Commits to Notre Dame

3-star WR Bubba Frazier committed to Notre Dame yesterday over offers from Georgia, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and dozens of other offers.

Frazier visited Notre Dame earlier this month, a visit which he shared with On3 was big in his decision to commit to the Irish. “Seeing the campus and getting to see and talk to the coaches in person felt better than anywhere else. My relationship grew with the coaches and they showed me how they could use me, so I definitely knew it was home when I left that visit.”

Frazier is a 4-star according to both ESPN and Rivals, but On3 and 247 have him as a 3-star. His On3 industry composite ranking is 443rd nationally and 69th at the WR position.

For Notre Dame, this continues a solid recruiting stretch, as the Irish are up to 11 commitments for a class which ranks 5th nationally.

3-Star LB Joshua Pittman Commits to Virginia Tech

3-Star LB Joshua Pittman committed to Virginia Tech yesterday over offers from Michigan State, North Carolina, Duke, Syracuse, and others.

Pittman ranks an even 1,000th nationally and 75th at the LB position, but his ranking should dramatically improve once 247 and/or ESPN give him a rating, as his On3 grade (88) outpaces his composite score (84.6), assuming 247 or ESPN are similar in rating to On3.

For Virginia Tech, this is the first in-state commitment of the 2026 cycle, but the class has not started really filling out quite yet, as the Hokies have 3 total commitments.

Virginia Tech’s 2026 class currently sits at 54th nationally and 12th in the ACC.
