4-Star WR CJ Wiley Decommits from Florida State

Consensus 4-Star WR CJ Wiley decommitted from Florida State yesterday after originally committing back on June 25th.

Wiley’s decommitment comes following a visit to Texas A&M and leaves Florida State with no wide receiver commitments for the 2025 class, a position which Florida State fans feel could be bolstered both by recruiting and the transfer portal.

According to the On3 industry composite, Wiley ranks 81st nationally and 12th at the WR position, one of the top prospects in the 2025 class that is now uncommitted.

Florida State is now down to 8 Blue Chip commitments and just 11 commitments overall in the 2025 class for a class which ranks 23rd nationally and 4th in the ACC.

Rice Fires Head Coach Mike Bloomgren Following 2-6 Start to 2024

ESPN’s Pete Thamel is reporting that Mike Bloomgren has been fired by Rice in his 7th seventh with the team following the Owls’ 2-6 start to 2024.

Bloomgren has a total record of 24-52 in his 7 years with the program, but did make consecutive bowl games in 2022 and 2023. Despite a pair of bowl appearances, both losses, the Owls never finished with a winning record.

Even though Bloomgren had a 0.316 winning percentage in his time with the program, that was anchored by the start of his rebuild, as he took over a program that went 4-20 in the two years before his hiring.

He went 7-23 in his first 3 seasons, including the COVID-19 shortened season. After a 4-8 season in 2021, to make a bowl game at 5-7 in 2022 and 6-6 in 2023 before losing both were major positives for the program. However, after starting 2-6, it was a clear step back that includes a 20-point home loss to Sam Houston, a home loss to conference cellar-dwellar Charlotte, and a loss UConn.

Rice’s Associate Head Coach and Special Teams Coordinator Pete Alomar will serve as the interim coach for the final 4 games of the season.

2026 4-Star EDGE Jordan Carter Commits to Texas A&M

2026 consensus 4-star EDGE Jordan Carter committed to Texas A&M over the weekend over offers from Georgia, Alabama, Texas, and others.

The Georgia native also committed on the same day as his teammate, Aaron Gregory (more on that in the next story), who have both visited Texas A&M many times.

According to Rivals, Carter is the top rated edge and #10 overall prospect in the 2026 class. According to the On3 industry composite, though, Carter ranks as the 35th overall prospect nationally and 5th ranked edge rusher in the 2026 class.

Texas A&M currently sits at 5 Blue Chip commitments and 7 commitments overall for the 2026 class, a class which currently ranks 4th nationally early in the cycle.

2026 4-Star WR Aaron Gregory Commits to Texas A&M

2026 consensus 4-star WR Aaron Gregory committed to Texas A&M over the weekend, over offers from Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Tennessee, and others.

Gregory said of Texas A&M that the coaches treating him like family means the most to him. He also spoke on the brotherhood of the team and the culture of the school as one of a kind.

Gregory ranks as high as 28th nationally and 3rd for his position according to Rivals, but according to the On3 industry composite, Gregory ranks 37th nationally and 7th at the WR position.

As mentioned above, Texas A&M’s 2026 class has 5 Blue Chip commitments and 7 commitments overall for a class which ranks 4th nationally.

4-Star WR Adrian Wilson Commits to Colorado

4-star WR Adrian Wilson committed to Colorado yesterday after decommitting from Arizona State on the 23rd.

Wilson has also spent time committed to Oregon and TCU during his recruitment journey.

For Wilson, what excites him is the offensive scheme and the chance to play early.

Wilson is nearly a consensus 4-star, as only On3 rates him a high 3-star. According to the On3 industry composite, Wilson ranks 267th nationally and 35th at the WR position.

This is Colorado’s 5th Blue Chip commitment and only 10th commitment overall for a 2025 class which ranks 64th nationally and 15th out of 16 in the Big 12.

Iowa Kirk Ferentz on Benching Cade McNamara in Favor of Brendan Sullivan

In the 2nd quarter of Iowa’s win over Northwestern, the Hawkeyes changed quarterbacks from Cade McNamara to Brendon Sullivan.

Following the game, Coach Kirk Ferentz was asked if the change would be permanent, to which Coach Ferentz shared, “‘permanent’ is a strong word, right?”

The decision to rotate in Sullivan was predetermined, as it was decided Sullivan was going to get to play around the third or fourth series, but it just worked out that McNamara took a hit that shook him up right around then.

Sullivan finished 9-for-14 with 79 yards, as well as an additional 41 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. The dual-threat ability stood out in stark contrast to McNamara.

This dual-threat ability stood out to Coach Ferentz, who shared that he feels Sullivan is a really good athlete while also having a really good command of the game.

2026 4-Star CB Camdin Portis, son of Clinton Portis, Commits to Miami

2026 4-star CB Camdin Portis, son of Clinton Portis and Miami legacy, committed to Miami yesterday over offers from Ohio State, Tennessee, Penn State, and others.

Portis shared that he “watched Miami growing up and always wanted to go to Miami” because “it’s a beautiful place and a great school with a lot of tradition.”

Portis ranks 292nd nationally and 23rd at the CB position according to the On3 industry composite.

This is Miami’s 3rd commitment for the 2026 class, currently all 4-stars, for a class which ranks 13th early in the process.

2026 3-Star QB Gavin Sidwar Decommits from Rutgers

2026 3-star QB Gavin Sidwar decommitted from Rutgers over the weekend after he originally committed back on July 1st.

According to 247, Sidwar has not visited anywhere recently, but the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Virginia Tech the top spot to earn Sidwar’s commitment now (52.1%). After the Hokies comes Rutgers (16.2%), Maryland (13.9%), and Syracuse (11.6%).

Sidwar is rated a 4-star by On3 while the other services have him as a 3-star. Sidwar ranks 408th nationally and 29th at the QB position according to the On3 industry composite.

He was one of two 4-star commitments in the young 2026 class for Rutgers, who now is down to one commitment.
