Ohio Excels After Sluggish Start to Defeat Eastern Michigan 35-10

Ohio QB Parker Navarro scored 4 times on the ground and set a career-high in passing yards with 277 as the Bobcats beat Eastern Michigan 35-10.

Navarro finished 22/32 with 277 yards passing and an interception while also leading all rushers with 106 yards and 4 touchdowns on 13 attempts. RB Anthony Tyus III also contributed with a statline of 12/32/1.

Through the air, WR Coleman Owen led all pass catchers with 8/139 while Chase Hendricks also had a solid day with 5/61.

Ohio outgained Eastern Michigan 434-266 while also having a higher yards per play of 6.89 compared to 4.16. The 4-1 turnover discrepancy in Ohio’s favor also makes the final score fairly understandable. Perhaps the most surprising part is that it was only 21-10 halfway through the 4th quarter still.

For EMU, QB Cole Snyder finished 18/30 with 155/1/3 as well as going 14/23 on the ground (which does factor in the sack yardage from his 3 sacks). RB Delbert Mimms III led all Eagles on the ground with 16/71. WR Oran Singleton was the only Eagle pass catcher with more than 30 yards, finishing with 5/70.

Kent State Gets First Lead of the Season But Loses 34-10 to Miami (OH), Falls to 0-10

Kent State scored on its first possession to take a 7-0 lead and therefore take its first lead of the season.

Miami (OH) then proceeded to score 34 unanswered points. Despite being 3/11 on 3rd down (27.27%), Kent State was somehow worse (4/15, 26.67%). And despite Miami losing 2 turnovers, so did Kent State.

Miami outgained Kent State by almost 300 yards (479-183) and had a big yards per play advantage (7.85-3).

Miami QB Brett Gabbert finished with a completion percentage under 50% (10/22) but did throw for 202 yards and 2 touchdowns. RB Keyon Mozee led all rushers with 19/196/1, including a 74-yard rush. Through the air, a majority of the yards went to Reggie Virgil (2/88/1) and Javon Tracy (4/76/1).

For Kent State, QB Tommy Ulatowski finished 10/21 with 82 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. The touchdown went to WR Chrishon McCray (some may know him as the 2-star avatar on the Road to Glory player overall selection screen). Luke Floriea led all Kent State receivers, with 4 catches for 32 yards.

At RB, Ky Thomas finished 15/58 to lead all of the Golden Flashes, good for just under 4 yards per carry.

With the win, Miami has qualified for a 4th consecutive bowl, the first time in program history the RedHawks have made it to 4 consecutive.

Northern Illinois Reaches Bowl Eligibility with 29-16 Win over Akron Zips

Northern Illinois reached bowl eligibility last night with a 29-16 win over an Akron team that definitely kept it closer on the scoreboard than some of the underlying numbers would show.

NIU outgained the Zips 440-256 and outperformed the Zips 7.72-3.41 on a per play basis.

However, deep into the 2nd quarter, NIU was holding on to a tight 17-16 lead after Akron scored on a blocked punt. NIU would rebound by scoring a touchdown on the next drive to regain a 7 point lead and would maintain that lead before a late 4th quarter touchdown to go up by the final score of 29-16.

For NIU, 2 rushers hit the century mark as Telly Johnson finished with 21/104 and Gavin Williams finished with 9/101/1. WR Trayvon Rudolph also scored a touchdown through the air and on the ground, throwing for a 39 yard touchdown and rushing for a 58 yard touchdown. Rudolph also finished with 3 catches for 20 yards at his native position. QB Ethan Hampton was 9/16 and finished with 105 yards and a touchdown.

For the Zips, QB Ben Finley finished 19/52 with 205 yards and a touchdown, with Adrian Norton leading all pass catchers in this game with 2/57/1. RB Jordon Simmons led all rushers for the Zips with 12/56.

5-Star WR Caleb Cunningham Flips from Alabama to Ole Miss

5-star WR Caleb Cunningham flipped his commitment from Alabama to Ole Miss yesterday after the Ole Miss vs. Georgia game. Cunningham has been to Ole Miss games a few times this season, but he had not seriously started to considering flipping until the Oklahoma game a few weeks ago.

And after the Georgia game, he had fully changed his mind and told Coach Kiffin that he was going to be an Ole Miss Rebel. Cunningham shared that he loves Alabama and that they have a ton of great people, both players and coaches, but Ole Miss got him and he thinks it makes sense to stay home. He is now planning on signing in December with the Rebels.

Cunningham is rated a 5-star by 247 and a 4-star by the other recruiting services, but On3’s industry composite rates him as a 5-star. The industry composite ranks him 17th nationally and 2nd at the WR position, a massive win for the Rebels recruiting class in 2025.

This is Ole Miss’ lone 5-star (currently) in the 2025 class, the 9th Blue Chip commitment, and the 20th commitment overall for a 2025 class which ranks 17th nationally and 9th in the SEC. Alabama’s 2025 class still has 4 5-stars, 17 Blue Chip commitments, and 22 commitments overall for a class which now falls to 2nd nationally and 1st in the SEC.

Reports Circling that Dan Lanning is Generating Buzz in NFL Coaching Circles

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler is reporting that Head Coach of the #1 Oregon Ducks, Dan Lanning, is reportedly generating some buzz in the NFL coaching circles.

According to Fowler, Coach Lanning is garnering comparisons to Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell, known for building a strong culture and galvanizing a locker room with his personality.

Coach Lanning is just 38 years old, having been hired by Oregon in 2022 and winning at least 10 games every season since then.

Oregon currently sits as the #1 team in the country and Coach Lanning is 32-5 in his tenure as the Ducks’ coach.

Boston College QB Thomas Castellanos Expected to Enter Transfer Portal

Boston College QB Thomas Castellanos was recently announced to be taking a leave of absence from the Eagles following his benching. However, now it has been shared that Castellanos is expected to enter the transfer portal.

BC Head Coach Bill O’Brien announced a change from Castellanos to Grayson James, sharing, “Tommy has done a great job for us. He’s an awesome competitor. I have a lot of respect for Tommy. Obviously, he wasn’t real thrilled with that, so he’s taking a couple days (away from the team), so I’ll get back to you on that one. But, Grayson James will be the starter.”

In 21 appearances with Boston College, Castellanos has thrown for 3,614 yards with 33 touchdowns and 19 interceptions (including an 18-5 ratio in 8 games this season). He also had 1,307 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns while with Boston College.

4-Star EDGE Hayden Lowe Flips from USC to Miami

4-star EDGE Hayden Lowe flipped from USC to Miami yesterday after originally committing to USC back on June 9th.

Lowe shared that this is a move that he’s been considering the last few weeks as he weighed the pros and cons of staying home vs. committing to the school that he felt like would help him grow as a man and football player.

Lowe is a consensus 4-star who ranks as high as 44th nationally and 3rd at his position according to 247. According to the On3 industry composite, Lowe ranks 154th nationally and 20th at the edge position.

This is Miami’s 16th Blue Chip commitment and 23rd commitment overall for a 2025 class which ranks 10th nationally and 1st in the ACC.

4-Star WR Terry Shelton Decommits from Arizona

4-star WR Terry Shelton decommitted from Arizona yesterday after committing to the Wildcats back on June 18th.

Shelton’s Twitter announcement is above. The WR also took official visits this summer to Houston, Texas Tech, Kansas, Illinois, and Boston College.

Shelton is nearly a consensus 4-star, but Rivals rates him as a slightly above average 3-star. Shelton is ranked as highly as 71st nationally and 12th at the WR position according to 247. According to the On3 industry composite, however, Shelton is ranked 196th nationally and 22nd at the WR position.

Arizona no longer has a Blue Chip commitment in the 2025 class, but it does still have 20 commitments overall for a class which now ranks 53rd nationally and 10th in the Big 12.

Utah RB Jaylon Glover Expected to Enter Transfer Portal

Glover played a good bit for the Utes in 2022 and 2023, appearing in 22 games and getting 215 carries between the two seasons. He had 922 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns over those two seasons.

However, in 2024, he’s seen his role reduced tremendously. He has only appeared in 3 games and only has 12 carries on the season. Part of his plan for announcing his intention to transfer now is to preserve his redshirt, as he is a true junior that will still have 2 seasons of eligibility.

3-Star WR Ja’Kayden Ferguson Decommits from Kentucky

3-star WR Ja’Kayden Ferguson decommitted from Kentucky yesterday after committing to the Wildcats back on June 16th.

Ferguson kept his announcement (posted above) brief. This decommitment comes following an official visit to LSU last weekend after LSU lost to Alabama.

Ferguson is rated a 4-star by Rivals and is ranked highest by 247, who ranks him 40th at his position. According to the On3 industry composite, Ferguson ranks 521st nationally and 84th at the WR position.

Kentucky still has 20 commitments, including 6 Blue Chip commitments, for a 2025 class which still ranks 23rd nationally and 12th in the SEC.
