LSU Announces Open Practice on April 12th In Place of Spring Game

According to On3’s The Bengal Tiger and Shea Dixon, LSU is hosting an open practice on April 12th, followed by an autograph session for fans in place of a spring game. The event will be free for anyone to attend, and the gates will open at 9:30 AM.

LSU joined the increasing ranks of programs that are choosing not to have a spring game due to concerns about some combination of tampering and player health as the postseason gets extended and some teams play more games. USC, Nebraska, Ohio State, Texas, North Carolina, LSU, and other programs are all among the ranks of the largest programs who are adopting a different style of event.

Consensus 4-Star DL Jaimeon Winfield Commits to USC

Consensus 4-star DL Jaimeon Winfield announced yesterday he was committing to USC over offers from Texas, LSU, Georgia, Michigan, Miami, Alabama, and others.

USC DL Coach Eric Henderson was the first coach to offer Winfield a scholarship, and now he joins the Trojans’ class.

He ranks as high as 65th nationally and 7th at the DL position (247), and the On3 industry composite ranks him 84th nationally and 7th at the DL position.

This continues USC’s incredible start to the 2026 recruiting class. The Trojans currently have 10 Blue Chip commitments and 15 total commitments in 2026 for a class which is currently ranked #1.

New Nebraska GM Pat Stewart Contract Details

Husker Online’s Sean Callahan shared on X yesterday that the new GM of Nebraska Football, Pat Stewart, will have a salary of $800,000.

Stewart was hired last month while he was working as an executive in the pros. He was also with Matt Rhule when Coach Rhule was in the pros, and has worked with Coach Rhule at Western Carolina and Temple, too.

Stewart’s background is largely in scouting and personnel, which makes sense considering the previous Nebraska GM, Sean Padden, is moving to a new role that is going to be more focused on the new ‘salary cap’ and contract negotiations.

High 4-Star QB Brady Smigiel Names Top 4 Programs

Top 4-star QB Brady Smigiel shared recently with On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he has narrowed his recruitment down to 4 programs: Washington, South Carolina, UCLA, and Michigan.

Smigiel was once committed to Florida State, but he’s now narrowed it down to these four, who are expected to all get official visits scheduled this summer.

Smigiel is rated highest by Rivals, who ranks the QB from California 19th nationally and rates him a 5-star. Every other recruiting service puts him as a 4-star, with the On3 industry composite ranking him 76th nationally and 7th at the QB position.

Texas WR Ryan Wingo Reportedly Got LASIK Surgery to Improve “Very Poor Vision”

Orangebloods’ Anwar Richardson is reporting that Texas WR Ryan Wingo underwent LASIK eye surgery after the Texas staff discovered that Wingo was dealing with some very poor vision during offseason workouts.

Wingo was coming off a true freshman season where he finished with 29 catches, 472 receiving yards, and 2 touchdowns. Not a terrible statline for a true freshman who couldn’t really see on a deeply talented roster.

Consensus 4-Star Cortez Redding Names Top 8 Programs

Consensus 4-star Cortez Redding recently shared that he has narrowed his recruitment down to his top 8 programs.

Redding shared that his final 8 contenders are Florida, Auburn, Indiana, Florida State, NC State, Miami, LSU, and Ole Miss. Of this group, Miami, NC State, and Ole Miss currently have a summer official visit scheduled with Redding.

These are also the three programs that the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine thinks have the best chance (NC State: 36.6%, Ole Miss: 24.2%, Miami 20.8%), with every other program having lower than a 1% chance.

He ranks highest on On3, where he ranks 137th nationally and 13th at the safety position, but the On3 industry composite places him 181st nationally and 15th at the safety position.

3-Star EDGE Landon Bland Commits to Oklahoma State

3-star EDGE Landon Bland committed to Oklahoma State yesterday over offers from Iowa State, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, and others.

Bland committed to Oklahoma State yesterday coming off of an unofficial visit this past weekend, a visit which evidently must have went pretty well.

Bland is rated as a high 3-star according to both On3 (88) and 247 (87). He ranks 660th nationally and 64th at the EDGE position according to the On3 industry composite.

This is the 3rd commitment for the 2026 class for Oklahoma State, a class which currently ranks 45th nationally and 8th in the Big 12.

3-Star WR Shawn Fishwick Commits to Eastern Michigan

3-star WR Shawn Fishwick announced on X yesterday that he had committed to Eastern Michigan over offers from other MAC schools like Toledo, Miami (OH), Bowling Green, and others.

Fishwick is only currently rated by 247, but he is rated as an 87, which is a strong rating for a commitment for EMU.

He ranks 128th at the WR position, according to 247, and according to On3, he is the first commitment for Eastern Michigan’s 2026 class.
