In the portal, Coogan ranks 10th nationally and 1st at the IOL position designation according to the On3 portal rankings.

Oklahoma Targeting Arkansas State DC Nate Dreiling to Join Defensive Staff

Oklahoma is targeting Arkansas State DC Nate Dreiling for a role on its defensive staff, according to Sooner Scoop. Dreiling is just 34 and is rising fast in the coaching ranks.

Dreiling was most recently the interim Head Coach for Utah State following the dismissal of Blake Anderson. He has also been a DC at New Mexico State and Pittsburg State, and spent time as a defensive analyst with Oregon.

Restructured Contract of Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy Shared

Scott Wright of The Oklahoman has shared that Oklahoma State is preparing to look beyond Coach Mike Gundy, and the restructured contract Coach Gundy signed supports that.

After a public standoff with the university, Coach Gundy agreed to a 4-year, $27.75M contract that starts at $6.75M and increases by $125,000 per year. One key difference is there is no longer a rollover provision in the contract, meaning there is no circumstance where the contract will automatically extend anymore. Coach Gundy’s buyout has also decreased.

Athletic Director Chad Wieberg also requested the inclusion of a succession plan: “that allows for Coach Gundy, as requested by me, to be a part of the succession planning for the next head football coach, whenever that occurs. That’s just recognizing that he is the winningest coach in OSU football history and this will be important to him, us, and everyone that whenever that time comes, that we have a transition. He knows more about what it takes to win here than anybody else. Assuming how all this plays out, and the timing of it, if I’m the AD at that point, certainly, I would want that advice from him. We wanted to have that in there to start to spell out how that will occur whenever that does occur.”

Will Howard with Farewell Message to Ohio State Fans

Ohio State QB Will Howard recently shared a video to his Twitter account, expressing gratitude for his one season with the Buckeyes.

In part, Howard shared, “Thank you, Coach Day, for believing in me when not a lot of others did. Thank you, Coach Kelly, for pushing me to be the best that I can be every single day. I’ve got to give so much credit to those two guys, and Billy Fessler is one of the guys that doesn’t get a lot of credit too. He did an unbelievable job developing me this year. Thank you to all the other coaches and staff that helped in my development here at The Ohio State University. Finally, thank you to Buckeye Nation for embracing me from Day 1. Thank you for taking me in and embracing me as one of your own. I will be a Buckeye for life.”

Clemson QB Cade Klubnik on His Goals for Final Season at Clemson

On the Field Talk Podcast with Field Yates, Clemson QB Cade Klubnik shared some of his goals as he goes into his final season as the Clemson QB.

“I think that, more than anything, I kind of just want to leave my mark. I want to leave Clemson better than I found it. It’s a tough place to do that, because of how amazing it is here. … I would also say, you know, I want to go be a great leader, and go lead these guys in a really special way. But at the end of the day, you know I want to go have a great year, next year, and go win a national championship.”

Kyle McCord: Emeka Egbuka Never Got Credit He Deserved

In an interview with CBS Sports at the Shrine Bowl, Syracuse QB and former Ohio State QB Kyle McCord shared that he believed that WR Emeka Egbuka never quite got the credit he deserved.

“I think just how unselfish he is is the first thing. At Ohio State, his four years there – obviously had a great career. He’s a great player, but never really was the star receiver. Obviously, being in the room with Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson, Marvin [Harrison], and then just this past year with Jeremiah Smith? I never felt like he got the credit that he deserved, but just produced every single year.”

“Every time he was on the field, good things happened. I think everybody can see his route running, his hands, his speed, his athleticism getting in and out of breaks. But I think the stuff that goes unnoticed? His run blocking, played in the slot a bunch, had no problem going and digging out a linebacker and never complained about it, either. Just have a guy like that who’s super talented in every aspect just being so unselfish to go and do what’s best for the team? I’m excited for his next step.”

Egbuka set records at Ohio State, finishing as the all-time program leader in catches and yards with 205 catches and 2868 yards, with 24 of those catches being touchdowns.
