Kirby Smart on Georgia QB Ryan Puglisi: Long Way to Go

Georgia has a QB competition between QBs Gunner Stockton and Ryan Puglisi.

Kirby Smart shared on 92.2 The Game recently that Puglisi still has “a long way to go.”

More specifically, Coach Smart shared:

“He’s a competitor. He’s a really good baseball player. He’s got arm talent. He’s got size. He’s a competitor. He was one of those guys that really flashed when he was on the scout team. You have a card, you don’t have a read, and you just fire away. He’s made some really good throws on the run. He’s got a strong arm. But he does have a long way to go in terms of learning exactly what we’re asking him to do, the command of the offense and the volume of the offense. He’s getting better at all those things.”

UNLV Shares AD Mispoke, Full Funding is Available and Ready for Coach Dan Mullen’s Contract

UNLV issued a statement recently that AD Erick Harper misspoke earlier this week when Harper stated the school could only afford the first two years of the new Coach, Dan Mullen’s, contract.

“UNLV athletics can fulfill all of its coaching contracts. To clarify, multiple funding sources cover the costs of all athletics department salaries, including revenues (ticket sales, multi-media rights, etc.), philanthropy, conference revenue distributions and direct and indirect institutional support.”

Brian Kelly on LSU’s Transfer Portal Class: Here to Win a Championship

Brian Kelly shared with Geaux247 that this year’s transfer portal class comes with high expectations.

Going into his 4th season at LSU, Coach Kelly is ready to finally make the Playoffs with the Tigers, a job which he sees his top ranked transfer portal class as up to the task:

“We had seen the impact of our transfers over the last few months, and we’re really pleased. I don’t think that this scrimmage had anything to do with whether this validated their presence or not. Their presence was validated in the way they’ve shown themselves over the last eight weeks, their work ethic, their commitment. Their commitment to being champions both on and off the field. They’ve been outstanding. These guys are here to win a championship. I mean, you go out there today. You don’t hear a bunch of talking. I mean, it is business. They are here to win a championship. And they take their craft serious. They go to work. It’s fun.

Brian Kelly Explains Decision to Cancel Spring Game for Open Practice

LSU is yet another program to decide to not have a spring game, and instead opt for a modified spring practice before an autograph session for fans. Coach Kelly shared during a press conference some of his reasons for making this decision:

“My reasons, more than anything else, is that my last couple years, and in particular last year, we started off, if you remember, you know, with some red-zone situational work. We haven’t got enough special teams work in those games. I wanted to include a bigger piece. So, as I looked at the spring practice itself and the game, I think what was more important to me, where we are as a football team, was to get all of our players an opportunity to get reps. Sometimes, you don’t get the equal amount of reps in a spring game. We have some young players that need some practice time. This will give everybody an opportunity. You don’t have to worry about splitting the squad. You don’t have to worry about some of the nuances that splitting it up and having two teams sometimes makes it difficult for you to get the matchups that you want. I can simply go ones-versus-ones and have some really good matchups that can test our players. So, I just think the format of a spring game for us, in this fashion, just makes more sense, and allows us to continue to work on the things that we need to get better at.”

3-Star WR Brady Marchese Commits to Georgia

3-star WR Brady Marchese committed to Georgia yesterday over Penn State, Florida State, Auburn, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and others.

Marchese only received an offer from Georgia in the last couple of months, and he shared with DawgsHQ, “it was kind of unbelievable, I couldn’t really believe it. It meant a lot to me being a Georgia boy and having that happen to me meant a lot.”

Marchese ranks 420th nationally and 63rd at the WR position according to the On3 industry composite.

For Georgia, this is only the 6th commitment for Georgia in the 2026 class, a class which currently ranks 12th nationally and 6th in the SEC.

3-Star CB Jalon Copeland Commits to Arkansas

3-star CB Jalon Copeland committed to Arkansas yesterday over Penn State, Illinois, Michigan State, and other offers.

Copeland ranks 575th nationally and 49th at the CB position according to the On3 industry composite.

For Arkansas, this is the 10th commitment for Arkansas, a class which ranks 24th nationally and 11th in the SEC.
