4-Star DB Jontae Gilbert Commits to Georgia

Consensus 4-Star DB Jontae Gilbert committed to Georgia over NC State, Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, and other offers.

Gilbert shared that the reason for his commitment, at least partially, is because of the way the defense is run by coaches Kirby Smart and Glenn Schumann. As far as a scheme fit, Gilbert sees no where better than Georgia.

Gilbert ranks 135th nationally and 16th at his position according to On3’s composite rankings.

Gilbert is Georgia’s 20th Blue Chip commitment and 23rd commitment overall for the 2025 class which currently ranks 4th nationally and 3rd in the SEC, behind Alabama and LSU.

Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders Thankful for Improved WRs

Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders recently shared that he is excited and thankful for the wide receiving core that he’ll be throwing to in 2024.

Sanders obviously still has playmaker Travis Hunter and WR Jimmy Horn Jr., but the Buffaloes also added wide receivers LaJohntay Wester from FAU and Will Sheppard from Vanderbilt in the transfer portal. All four receivers had at least 567 receiving yards in 2023.

Both Wester and Sheppard have combined for almost 5,000 receiving yards in their career, and Sanders is “thankful to have them” because “they both were the top guys at their school and top guys in their conference that they were in.”

How Transfer Portal Shapes P4 & G5

On3’s Pete Nakos recently wrote a great piece regarding the transfer portal’s impacts on the Power 4 and Group of 5 as college football continues to evolve.

Lou Groza Award winner Graham Nicholson was a great example of a player who entered the portal, received some interest from schools including Oregon, exited the portal to return to Miami (OH), and then re-enter the portal in the spring window to transfer to Alabama. And just like that, Miami (OH) had lost a national award winner.

Other top talent in the G5 has recently been leaving, as the MAC Player of the Year and the AAC Defensive Player of the Year have both transferred to the state of Texas, with Toledo’s Dequan Finn now at Baylor and UTSA’s Trey Moore now at Texas. Notre Dame also poached a 1,000 yard receiver from FIU in Kris Mitchell, and Indiana saw 7 former all-conference players from James Madison follow new coach Curt Cignetti, including starts like WR Elijah Sarratt and CB D’Angelo Ponds.

In 2021-22, 123 G5 players transferred up to power conferences, but that number nearly doubled the next year, up to 239. For many coaches, like Miami (OH)’s Chuck Martin, it’s not until the summer that they can comfortably know what their roster looks like.

4-Star ATH Messiah Delhomme Commits to Maryland

Consensus 4-Star ATH Messiah Delhomme committed yesterday to Maryland over Ohio State, Alabama, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Syracuse, and others.

This is a huge win in the DMV area for Coach Mike Locksley who also recently earned a commitment from another 4-star from Virginia, Jaylen Gilchrist.

Delhomme is ranked as the 188th nationally ranked recruit and 7th ranked ATH according to the On3 composite rankings.

This is Maryland’s 5th Blue Chip commitment and 22nd commitment overall in the 2025 class which ranks 31st nationally and 10th in the Big Ten.

4-Star CB Jayden Sanders Commits to Michigan

4-Star CB Jayden Sanders committed yesterday to Michigan over Baylor and Oklahoma State, among others.

For Sanders, Michigan really stood out for their historic ability to develop cornerbacks and put them in the NFL.

Sanders ranks as the 234th prospect nationally and the 27th ranked CB in the 2025 class according to the On3 industry composite.

This is Michigan’s 13th Blue Chip commitment and only 16th commitment in the 2025 class, which currently ranks 14th nationally and 3rd in the Big Ten behind only Ohio State and Oregon.

Miami QB Cam Ward on Underrated Aspect of WR Xavier Restrepo’s Game

Miami’s transfer QB Cam Ward recently shared some of what makes First-Team All-ACC WR Xavier Restrepo so special.

Despite only being 5-foot-10, Restrepo has an incredible catch radius, which helped him bring in over 1,000 yards while still splitting targets with several names like Jacolby George and Georgia transfer WR Colbie Young.

Ward thinks that Restrepo does not get the credit he deserves for his abilities as a route runner. Specifically, Ward pointed out how he finds ways to win his route against man to man, how he can naturally create windows of opportunity for Ward in the way he stems and stacks, or how he knows where to find the soft spot in a zone that Ward also sees.

“Me and him have built a connection where he knows what space I like to get to, when I like to get there … So you know, he sees space how I see space,” Ward was quoted as saying.

2026 4-Star Edge Keenan Britt Commits to South Carolina

2026 4-star edge Keenan Britt committed to South Carolina yesterday over an offer sheet which included Auburn, Oregon, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and others.

Britt is the younger brother of former Auburn LB K.J. Britt.

Britt ranks 276th nationally and 26th at the Edge position according to On3’s industry composite.

This is South Carolina’s 3rd commitment in the 2026 class, where Britt joins 4-star LB Rodney Colton and 3-star IOL Anthony Baxter.

Virginia Tech Coach Pry: ACC Being Down Is Bunch of Bull

Virginia Tech’s coach Brent Pry recently shared on Marty and McGee that he thinks “it’s a bunch of bull” that the conversation around the college football landscape has turned into a two conference discussion with the belief that the ACC is down.

Pry, who has also worked extensively in both the SEC and especially the Big Ten, loves the ACC and thinks it stacks up to any other conference in college football.

“We’ve got tradition. We’ve got academics. We’ve got great college towns. We’ve got great weather. We’ve got great proximity. And I’m going to be honest with you, we’ve got great skill … I was a little bit surprised, first year in the league, second year in the league – the quarterback play, the receiver play. It’s a really, really good league.”

“I think the narrative, I think we’re misrepresented,” Pry believes. For too long, Pry says it was just Clemson carrying the league, which hurt the national reputation of the league. But now with Virginia Tech strong, Miami strong, Florida State strong, and Clemson still a factor, there are several teams Coach Pry sees that could surprise an unsuspecting national audience.

3-Star S Brandon Logan Commits to Notre Dame

3-Star S Brandon Logan has committed to Notre Dame after having previously been committed to Vanderbilt baseball while also holding offers from Iowa and Indiana for football and Ohio State and Texas A&M for baseball.

Logan recently has started picking up traction after going to different team’s camps. For example, he went to the Notre Dame camp where he performed well and ran two different sub 4.5 40-yard dash times, which meant Logan’s high school pushing him to go to the camps clearly paid off for Logan.

Logan ranks as the 826th nationally ranked recruit and 70th ranked safety, but he ranks as high as the 40th ranked safety (On3).

Logan is Notre Dame’s 22nd commitment for the 2025 class for a class which ranks 11th nationally.

3-Star S Nathan Tilmon Commits to Utah

3-Star S Nathan Tilmon committed to Utah over Texas and TCU, among other offers, after having previously been committed to SMU until his decommitment in June.

Tilmon ranks as the 958th ranked prospect nationally and the 78th ranked safety, but ranks as high as 34th or 44th at his position (On3 and ESPN, respectively).

This is Utah’s 18th commitment in the 2025 class which currently ranks 47th nationally and 9th out of 16 in the newly expanded Big 12.
