Washington Gets to Bowl Eligibility In First B1G Season with 31-19 Win Over UCLA

UCLA kept this game close for much of it until Washington scored 17 unanswered points in the second half to put this game out of reach. UCLA would score with 9 seconds left, but by that point the damage was done.

Washington QB Will Rogers was replaced by Demond Williams Jr., who would go on to lead the second half drives where Washington did pull away from UCLA. Of the decision, Coach Jedd Fisch shared, “I thought Will [Rogers] did a nice job there getting us to 14 and then things were just not going as well as I would have liked them to. And I thought it was the right time to give [Williams] that opportunity.”

Rogers finished 13/21 with 115/1/2, while Williams was a crisper 7/8 for 67 and a touchdown. Williams also added 31 rushing yards on 6 attempts.

RB Jonah Coleman finished 21/95/2 with a catch for 10 yards to get up over 100 all-purpose yards.

UCLA struggled to run the ball, as leading rusher TJ Harden finished with 33 yards on 13 carries. Not only that, but QB Chase Garbers was under pressure all night as Washington secured 6 sacks, including 3 from Russell Davis II. Garbers finished 27/44 with 267 yards and 2 touchdowns, as UCLA actually outgained Washington.

Harden did led all pass catchers in this game with 6/79. TE Moliki Matavao also contributed a statline of 7/68/1 for the Bruins.

Not only did UCLA outgain Washington, 11/20 (55%) is also a much better conversion down rate than 3/13 (23.08%). The yardage discrepancy is a little misleading, though, as UCLA only averaged a mediocre 4.14 yards per play, while Washington’s was a more respectable 5.28.

Colorado State Stays Unbeaten in Mountain West Play with 24-10 Win Over Wyoming

Colorado State improved to 5-0 in conference play in a 24-10 win over Wyoming as the Rams did not punt until the second half.

The Rams used a combination of big plays in the passing game and a methodical rushing attack to score and wear down the Wyoming defense. Outgaining the Cowboys by over 200 yards, Colorado State finished with 7.19 yards per play to Wyoming’s 4.16.

QB Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi finished an efficient 14/17 for 192 and a touchdown. WR Dane Olson also threw a touchdown, a 6-yard pass to Fowler-Nicolosi.

On the ground, Colorado State had 44 carries, with 29 of them going to Justin Marshall (16/104) and Avery Morrow (13/84/1), combined. Jalen Dupree (8/26) also received a decent number of handoffs. 11 Rams caught a pass on 15 total completions, as Tommy Maher technically led all pass catchers in this game with a statline of 1/53/1.

For Wyoming, QB Kaden Anderson struggled with consistency, finishing 13/30 for 120 yards. Anderson did score Wyoming’s lone touchdown on a rushing attempt. Running the ball, the Cowboys struggled on a down-to-down basis, as 26 attempts for 118 yards doesn’t sound terrible, until considering that Jamari Ferrell had a 62-yard run. Aside from that one play, Wyoming went 56 yards on 25 carries, only 2.24 yards per carry.

Ferrell (6/74) led Wyoming rushers, with RBs Harrison Waylee (8/15) and Sam Scott (7/11) also struggling to get much going offensively.

UTSA Starts Hot and Pulls Away Late to Earn 48-27 Win Over North Texas

UTSA opened the game with a couple quick scores and took a 27-7 lead into the half before also pulling away late with a pair of touchdowns in the last 10 minutes of the game to beat a UNT team that went on to provide some resistance later in the game.

Despite being down 20 at halftime, UNT did cut the UNT lead to 6. But, UTSA would respond by driving 82 yards for a touchdown. The Roadrunners also did not allow another point from then on.

It was a balanced attack for both teams, as UTSA went for nearly 700 yards of offense. UTSA finished with 7.48 yards per play, lower than UNT’s 7.87, actually.

UNT finished 3/16 on conversion downs (compared to 10/19 for UTSA), turned the ball over twice (compared to once for UTSA), and only had the ball for 20:44 of the game clock.

It was a battle of dueling RBs, as UNT RB Shane Porter led all rushers with a statline of 13/193/3. UTSA RB Robert Henry had a great game, though, as he finished with a statline of 20/168/2.

UTSA QB Owen McCown looked good, though, finished 29/43 with 379 yards, 2 touchdowns, and an interception. McCown also contributed 88 rushing yards, a solid number. UNT QB Chandler Morris was 21/36 for 241 yards, a touchdown, and 2 interception. For UTSA, David Amador II was the gameleader in receiving yards, as he finished with 9/122/1. For UNT, Damon Ward Jr. (4/85) and Blair Conwright (5/69/1) also performed quite well.

With both teams now at 5-5, getting to a bowl game means finding just one more win on the schedule. For UNT, it’s remaining schedule is vs. East Carolina and at Temple. They are likely to win one (or both) of those two games. For UTSA, it’s remaining schedule is vs. Temple (on Friday) and at #24 Army. UTSA should beat Temple, but Army may prove to be a difficult matchup.

Arizona Pulls Away From Houston in 3rd Quarter En Route to a 27-3 Win

Arizona kept its bowl dreams alive despite coming into the game 3-6 thanks to a 27-3 win over Houston, which included a 20-0 scoring run in the last 30 minutes and 41 seconds of the game.

Houston never found the end zone, even though it did move the ball decently well. After all, Arizona did only outgain Houston by 15 yards (341-326) and Houston was better on a per play basis (5.26-4.94). Ultimately, losing the turnover battle 3-1 and going 0-4 on 4th down (and 2/15 across conversion downs) is a way to get into scoring territory on several drives and coming away with 3 total points.

Houston QB Zeon Chriss finished 16/27 with 191 yards and an interception while also contributing 55 rushing yards (despite being sacked twice). Re’Shaun Sanford II led all rushers for the Cougars, though, with 76 yards on 10 carries. Sanford also put up 40 receiving yards on 5 catches. WRs Stephon Johnson (4/70) and Joseph Manjack IV (2/60) were favorite targets for Chriss.

For Arizona, RB Quali Conley led the rushing attack, finishing with a statline of 11/107/1 in the rushing game and 3/27/1 as a pass catcher. Two other Wildcats had 11 carries, as RB Kedrick Reescano (11/28) and QB Noah Fifita (11/-9; sacked 5 times, so take that with a grain of salt) also saw plenty of rush attempts. Fifita was 20/35 for 224 yards, 2 touchdowns, and an interception.

Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan also tied all pass catchers with 70 receiving yards and a touchdown on 6 receptions. Chris Hunter (6/65) was also a threat in the passing game. Both at 4-6, Houston needs wins vs. Baylor and @ #6 BYU to qualify for a bowl, while Arizona needs wins @ TCU and vs. Arizona State.

Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava Off Injury Report, Will Play at Georgia

The Friday injury reports for Tennessee and Georgia are in, and Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava is no longer listed.

Iamaleava was questionable to play due to a concussion he recently suffered, with some in the media space sharing that he was unlikely to play (with one saying he would not play) against #12 Georgia later today.

For Georgia, Trevor Etienne was already ruled out earlier in the week. As for the rest of the Bulldogs, WR Anthony Evans, RB Cash Jones, and OL Micah Morris are all listed as questionable.

Friday Injury Report for Ranked Matchup of Mizzou at South Carolina

In one of the two ranked on ranked matchups this weekend, Missouri and South Carolina both released their Friday injury reports.

For the most part, there are no big surprises, nor are there many questions going into Saturday. However, the one name up for debate at this point is QB Brady Cook, listed as doubtful. For South Carolina, 4 players are out (RB Matthew Fuller, Jakai Moore, Nick Barrett, and Gilber Edmond). For Missouri, 6 players are out (DE Darris Smith, QB Sam Horn, LB Khalil Jacobs, DE Joe Moore, OL Connor Tollison, and WR Mookie Cooper).

Mike Elko on Replacing Production of Injured RB Le’Veon Moss

RB Le’Veon Moss suffered a season-ending knee injury, which was a huge loss for the #15-ranked Texas A&M Aggies.

This week, Coach Mike Elko shared a little bit on how he thinks the team should go about replacing Moss’ production as best it can.

Coach Elko was cagey, trying not to share too much or “give away the game plan.” Coach Elko did say, “a lot of things are on the table.”

As for his options, he pointed out the Aggies could lean more on the passing game, or Amari Daniels and EJ Smith could step up more as they rise up the depth chart by default.

He did share that, “a big part of it is going to fall on Amari [Daniels] and then we’ll see where the rest of it goes.”

Arkansas QB Taylen Green Probable vs. #3 Texas

#3 Texas travels to take on Arkansas, who put a hurting on the Longhorns the last time Texas traveled to Fayetteville a few years back.

And the biggest question heading into the game is the health of Arkansas QB Taylen Green, as he deals with a knee injury suffered against Ole Miss.

With the Friday injury report submitted for both teams, QB Taylen Green is officially listed as probable for Arkansas, with RBs Braylen Russell and Ja’Quinden Jackson also listed as probable. For Texas, edge rusher Colton Vasek was downgraded to out after previously being questionable. Finally, LB Morice Blackwell Jr. is currently listed as doubtful for the Longhorns.

Georgia AD Not a Fan of the “Inconsistency” of the CFP Rankings Process

The Georgia AD, Josh Brooks, recently voiced his displeasure with the College Football Playoff rankings. More aptly, Brooks voiced his displeasure with the process and lack of consistency with the rankings.

According to most strength of schedule metrics, Georgia has played one of, if not, the toughest schedule in the country. But with a #12 ranking and being behind two other 2-loss teams, Brooks and many other Georgia fans are unhappy with the difficulty of Georgia’s schedule not factoring into the ranking process more.

On The Paul Finebaum Show, Brooks said, “I know the committee made a statement that they had questions about the inconsistency of our team. I would question the inconsistency of their ranking process, quite frankly. But if you want to talk about consistency, what has been consistent has been the strength of our schedule …”

4-Star S Byron Baldwin Recommits to Indiana

Consensus 4-star S Byron Baldwin recommitted to Indiana yesterday after he decommitted in early October.

Baldwin reopened his recruitment to make sure he was making the right decision for him, and only a couple short months later after another visit to Bloomington, Baldwin has (re)decided on the Hoosiers.

Baldwin ranks 166th nationally and 13th at the S position according to the On3 industry composite.

This is Indiana’s highest rated recruit in the 2025 class, as it is the only 4-star commitment for the Hoosiers, as of now. Indiana and its 22 total commitments rank 47th nationally and 13th in the Big 10.
