Syracuse Upsets #25 UNLV With Strong Finish, 44-41 (OT)

In what might be the most exciting game all week, Syracuse went to Las Vegas and upset #25 UNLV in overtime after UNLV had multiple chances late to put the game away.

Ultimately, in a game where Syracuse outgained UNLV 492 to 354 and had 34 first downs to UNLV’s 19, the game came down to the wire. To be fair to UNLV, UNLV’s yards per play was much higher, as UNLV had 7.22 yards per play on only 49 plays, while Syracuse had 5.13 yards per play on 93 total plays.

Syracuse raced out to a 14-0 lead.

UNLV responded with 21 unanswered points.

Syracuse kicked a field goal before halftime to make it a 21-17 game.

Syracuse scored 14 unanswered to make it 31-21.

UNLV scored 17 unanswered, including on a blocked punt TD, to make it 38-31.

Syracuse then drove 75 yards to tie it up with 23 seconds remaining after UNLV dropped an interception and missed a tackle on 4th down that would have been a game-ending turnover on downs.

In overtime, UNLV got the ball first and kicked a field goal to go up 41-38. Then needing a touchdown to win, the Orange faced a 2-and-20 after a chop block. A controversial roughing the passer gave an automatic first down to the Orange. A couple plays later, a 1-yard LeQuint Allen touchdown gave the Orange the victory, finally.

For Syracuse:

QB Kyle McCord finished 40-for-63 with 355 yards, 3 touchdowns, an interception, and 22 rushing yards. RB LeQuint Allen finished with 71 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns on 19 carries, but he also added 9 catches for 58 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns for 4 total touchdowns in this game. Yasin Willis also added 62 rushing yards and a touchdown on 8 carries.

Oronde Gadsden II led all pass catchers in this game with 142 receiving yards and 10 catches.

For UNLV:

QB Hajj-Malik Williams was an efficient 21-for-25 for 227 yards, 3 touchdowns, and an interception. He also added 53 rushing yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.

RB Jai’Den Thomas led all Rebels with 64 rushing yards on 6 carries.

WR Ricky White III finished with 135 receiving yards and a touchdown on 10 catches.

UNLV also had 4 players get to double digit total tackles, with Jalen Catalon finishing with 17 tackles. LB Jackson Woodard finished with 14 tackles, an interception, and 2 pass deflections (with one being the dropped interception that could have ended the game in regulation for the Rebels).

#6 Oregon Comfortably Rolls Through Michigan State 31-10

Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel opened the game with 2 interceptions in the Ducks’ first 4 drives of the game, but finished the first half with a pair of touchdown drives to give Oregon a 21-0 lead as Michigan State only had a few first half first downs.

The game pace would go on to slow down in the second half before Oregon pulled its starts in the 4th quarter with a commanding 31-0 lead. Michigan State would go on to score in its last two possessions, including a bad beat field goal (spread of 21.5) with less than a minute to get to the final score of 31-10.

Gabriel finished 20-for-32 with 257 yards, 2 touchdowns, and the 2 aforementioned interceptions.

RB Jordan James finished with 166 rushing yards and a touchdown on 24 carries, while WR Tez Johnson led all pass catchers in the game with 84 receiving yards and a touchdown on a solid 10 catches.

Oregon also had 5 sacks defensively, 2.5 of which came from DE Jordan Burch.

For Michigan State, QB Aidan Chiles was 10-for-17 with 154 yards. He also added 29 rushing yards and a fumble lost on 12 carries (including sacks). RB Kay’Ron Lynch-Adams had a fairly quiet night for the Spartans, putting up 32 rushing yards and a touchdown on 9 carries. 3 pass catchers had over 50 yards, as Nick Marsh, Montorie Foster Jr., and Jack Velling had 58, 57, and 53 receiving yards, respectively.

Houston Pulls Off 16.5 Point Upset Over TCU at Home to Win 30-19

Houston made a change at QB coming into the night, with Zeon Chriss starting over Donovan Smith, and the move proved to provide a dynamic spark that powered the Cougars offense.

Chriss finished 15-for-18 with 141 yards and a touchdown passing, while he also led all rushers in the game with 97 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. This 97 yards rushing was largely aided by a 71-yard rushing touchdown late in the 1st half to extend Houston’s lead to 18, the largest lead the Cougars held all night.

Houston finished with 210 rushing yards on 42 carries, as TCU has allowed 200+ rushing yards for the 3rd time in 4 weeks and at least 150+ rushing yards in each of the last 4 weeks.

TCU’s QB Josh Hoover finished 23-for-37 with 233 yards, 2 passing touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and a fumble lost. Wide receivers JP Richardson and Jack Bech were bright spots for the Horned Frogs, again, as they combined for 153 receiving yards and a touchdown on 13 catches. Richardson did lose a fumble, however.

Ultimately, forcing 4 turnovers and holding the ball for nearly 37 minutes was a winning formula for the Cougars who not only get their first win in Big 12 play this year, but it was also Houston’s first touchdown against Power 4 competition after being shutout by Iowa State and Cincinnati, and only scoring field goals against Oklahoma.

Jacksonville State Blows Out Kennesaw State 63-24 With Huge 2nd Half

Jacksonville State took a 21-17 lead into halftime, but then the Gamecocks proceeded to score 28 unanswered points in the 3rd quarter plus one minute of the 4th quarter.

Ultimately, Jacksonville State would go on to win 63-24 after scoring 42 second half points and putting up a total of 8 rushing touchdowns.

Jacksonville State had two rushers go for over 100 yards, as QB Tyler Huff ran for 176 yards and 3 touchdowns on 15 carries and RB Tre Stewart added 134 yards and 4 touchdowns on 24 carries.

Kennesaw State RB Michael Benefield did have a strong showing in a loss, going for 112 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. Owls kick returner Qua Ashley also ran a kick back in a performance that saw Ashley run for a total of 156 kick return yards.

Jacksonville State’s Jabari Mack also added a pick-six as the Gamecocks improve to 2-3 on the season, while Kennesaw State falls to 0-5.

Ole Miss Edge Princely Umanmielen Out Against South Carolina

Ole Miss star Edge Princely Umanmielen has been ruled out on Ole Miss’ most recent injury report ahead of its upcoming game against South Carolina.

For South Carolina, both QB LaNorris Sellers and RB Rocket Sanders show up on South Carolina’s injury report, but are both listed as probable.

Ole Miss RB Henry Parrish is listed as questionable. Some good news for the Rebels, though, as WR Tre Harris and TE Caden Prieskorn are both off the injury report and are therefore safe to be presumed to be healthy.

Penn State Nick Singleton Expected to Play vs. UCLA

247Sports’ Matt Zenitz is reporting that Penn State RB Nicholas Singleton is expected to play against UCLA later today.

Singleton missed some practice time this week, so there were some questions on if Singleton would be good to go this weekend. Questions were only made more unclear after Coach James Franklin said he could not provide an update on Singleton’s status.

Through 4 games, Singleton and RB Kaytron Allen have combined for 697 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns, with Singleton making up a majority of those yards on his impressive 7.7 yards per carry.

USC Expected to Be Without Leading Tackler, LB Eric Gentry

USC is going up against Minnesota this weekend, but it will be doing it without leading tackler Eric Gentry.

The linebacker went to the locker room on a cart last weekend against Wisconsin, but there was no update on his status during Coach Lincoln Riley’s regular media availability. Now, however, Matt Zenitz of 247Sports is reporting that USC will be without Gentry.

Alabama WR Kendrick Law Ruled Out vs. Vanderbilt

#1 Alabama heads to Vanderbilt this weekend, and it will be without Junior WR Kendrick Law as he has been ruled out, officially, for a game which Alabama finds itself 22.5 point favorites on the road.

Alabama may also be without LB Justin Jefferson, who is currently listed as probable.

As for the Commodores, Vandy will be without DL Zaylin Wood, CB Mark Davis, and OL Grayson Morgan.

Edge Boubacar Diakite, WRs Loic Fouonji and Joseph McVay, S Dontae Carter, and DL Khordae Sydnor are all listed as probable.

Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia Not Worried About History Against Bama: We Got Team Full of Dogs

1984 was the last time Vanderbilt outscored Alabama on the football field, but Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia is not worried about that history.

Pavia said, “this is a whole new team… we’ve got a team full of dogs who prepare every week like they want to play on Sundays.”

Even though Vanderbilt lost to Georgia State, it also went down to the wire with then-#7 Missouri, going to double overtime. “You know, we fell just short to the No. 7 team in the nation. So we’ve got to get over that little edge and start punching some wins here,” said Pavia.

Pavia closed his remarks by saying that no one can be sure who is going to win, but that the Commodores are going to do what they can before the game and be prepared for it.

4-Star WR Jordon Gidron Commits to South Carolina, Reclassifies to Class of 25

Consensus 4-star WR Jordon Gidron committed to South Carolina yesterday over Auburn, Florida State, NC State, Ole Miss, and others. Gidron also reclassified to the class of 2025, a move he began considering in the last month or so.

For Gidron, he said that the South Carolina staff has shown him love in a way no other school has been able to match.

Gidron is a consensus 4-star, ranked the highest by Rivals. Gidron is ranked 120th nationally and 14th at the WR position, but according to the On3 industry composite, Gidron is ranked 179th nationally and 20th at his position.

Gidron is South Carolina’s 7th 4-star commitment and 20th commitment overall for a 2025 class which ranks 24th nationally and 13th in the SEC.
