#10 Boise State Coasts Off Early 21-Point Lead to Beat #20 UNLV, Punch Ticket to CFP
#10 Boise State allowed only 63 yards in the first half while scoring 21 points and gaining 236 total yards to go into half with a comfortable 21-0 lead over #20 UNLV.
The Broncos did not score again, but it did not matter, as UNLV was only able to score one touchdown towards the middle of the 4th quarter after Boise State already had >99% win probability.
RB Ashton Jeanty finished with 209 rushing yards and a touchdown – a 75-yard explosive run – on 32 carries. Also for the Broncos, QB Maddux Madsen finished 18/27 with 158 passing yards, a passing touchdown, and a rushing touchdown. Matt Lauter led all pass catchers in this game (5/62), with Latrell Caples catching the lone touchdown pass on the day (2/37/1).
For UNLV, QB Hajj-Malik Williams finished 13/28 for just 110 yards and an interception. Williams also finished with 56 rushing yards on 21 carries, while no other Rebels had more than 6 carries. Boise State did a great job containing dynamic WR Ricky White III, who only finished with 4 catches for 21 yards. UNLV’s lone touchdown was from RB Greg Burrell, who finished with 5/47/1 but got in on a 31-yard scamper.
An underrated aspect of Boise State’s game this year, while everyone has focused on Ashton Jeanty, has been the defense, and it was on full display last night, as Jeremiah Earby finished with 3 pass deflections and an interception, while the rest of the defense combined for 6 sacks and 11 tackles for loss, led by Marco Notarainni’s 2 sacks and tackles for loss.
With the win, Boise State has essentially punched its ticket to the CFP, and also punched its ticket to a first-round bye as the 4-seed – maybe the 3-seed if Clemson were to beat SMU tonight. For UNLV, it gives the Rebels a 3rd loss to a ranked team as Boise State has beat the Rebels twice and Syracuse beat UNLV in Vegas in OT early in October, but this was still a season to celebrate for UNLV and Coach Barry Odom.
#24 Army Controls Game Against Tulane to Win 35-14
Army won its first program conference championship in its first season in the AAC last night as it defeated Tulane 35-14.
Tulane had some decent opportunities early that it squandered, and Army was able to be more opportunistic and not give Tulane enough of a chance to get back in the game.
Tulane only had the ball 6 times, never once punting. In fact, neither team punted once.
Tulane opened with a 48-yard drive that ended in a turnover on downs. Army proceeded to go 11 plays, 72 yards for a Touchdown. 7-0.
Tulane then missed a field goal at the end of a 46-yard drive. Army went 80 yards on 3 plays thanks to a 72 yard rush from Kanye Udoh. 14-0.
Tulane fumbled the kickoff, but Army turned the ball over on downs on Tulane’s 4-yard-line.
Tulane QB Darian Mensah threw an interception, giving Army the ball on the 21. 5 plays later, touchdown. 21-0. Tulane would score a touchdown to make it 21-7 right before the half, but only getting the ball two times in the second half with Army scoring on both complete drives made that lead insurmountable for the Green Wave.
The shortest full drive in the 2nd half was 5:13 for Tulane’s final drive that started with 5:20 remaining in the 4th quarter. Army’s 2nd half drives went 6:31 for a touchdown and 10:44 for another touchdown – just clinical and surgical precision from the troops.
QB Bryson Daily finished with 4 rushing touchdowns after rushing for 126 yards on 25 carries. It was Army RB Kanye Udoh who led all rushers in this one, with 158 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Army LB Andon Thomas impressed, leading all Black Knights defenders with 8 tackles and 1.5 of Army’s 3 tackles for loss while also securing Army’s only interception of the night.
For Tulane, QB Darian Mensah was 17/25 for 209 yards and 2 touchdowns, with over half of those yards going to USC transfer Mario Williams (6/109/1).
With Boise State’s win, it’s now basically impossible for Army to make it to the CFP, but Army, at 11-1 (and possibly 12-1 after the Navy game), should hopefully make a solid bowl game against a good opponent to give the Black Knights a chance to put up a great win to cap off an impressive season worth celebrating, CFP or not. For Tulane, the Green Wave have one more chance to get to a 10th win in the first (and possibly only) season of Coach Jon Sumrall.
Jacksonville State Routs Western Kentucky 52-12 to Win CUSA
Western Kentucky scored first, with a field goal in its first drive to take a 3-0 lead. By the end of the first quarter it was 14-3, and it never got closer than that, as Jacksonville State went on a 38-3 run following that initial field goal.
Jacksonville State dominated this game, scoring touchdowns on 7 of its 10 drives, with one additional drive ending in a field goal and another ending with a missed field goal.
The Gamecocks finished with nearly 400 rushing yards, as RB Tre Stewart finished with over 200 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns (27/201/3; 3/54 receiving) and QB Tyler Huff almost did the same (23/167/1 rushing; 11/15, 176/2 passing).
Redshirt freshman WR Cam Vaughn led all receivers in this game with 4/91/1 for Jacksonville State, while Western Kentucky’s Easton Messer had a similarly solid game, finishing with 7 catches for 83 yards.
Western Kentucky QB Caden Veltkamp had some trouble pushing the ball downfield, finishing 18/30 with 141 yards, a touchdown, and 2 fumbles lost while getting sacked a couple times.
With the win, Jacksonville State wins the Conference USA Championship in its second season at the FBS level and has now reached 9 wins in each of its seasons in the FBS with an opportunity to secure a 10-win season this soon after making the jump up from the FCS.

Consensus 5-star DL Justus Terry has committed and signed to Texas over Georgia and Auburn on the final day of the Early Signing Period.
Terry was previously committed to Georgia for over a year before flipping (and then decommitting later) to USC. Terry also took visits to Florida State, Alabama, Auburn, and Texas in the past few months as he was deciding on where to sign with.
Terry is ranked highest by ESPN, who ranks him 7th nationally, with every recruiting service ranking him as the 2nd ranked DL. According to the On3 industry composite, Terry ranks 9th nationally and 2nd at the DL position.
Texas already had the #1 class in the country, but this signing makes the gap between Texas and Alabama, currently in 2nd, even larger.
Brent Key and Georgia Tech Agree to New Long-Term Contract with Pay Raise
Georgia Tech and Coach Brent Key have agreed to a new long-term contract, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
In his 3rd season and 2nd full season with Georgia Tech, the Yellow Jackets are 18-15 overall and 14-9 in conference play, but the program has been trending up in each year under Coach Key, including a signature win over Miami this year and a near-win over Georgia that was lost in the 8th overtime.
Colorado, Deion Sanders Discussing Contract Extension
Reports have emerged from Buffzone’s Brian Howell that Coach Deion Sanders and Colorado are currently discussing a contract extension.
Currently Coach Sanders is coaching on a 5-year, $29.5M deal which has three more seasons on it and 9 different incentives that can add to the overall value of the deal, including $100,000 for each win after hitting six wins, $150,000 for getting to six wins, and $150,000 for getting to a non-NY6 bowl.
There has been much made in the media about if Coach Sanders will stay with Colorado for the long-term once his sons and Travis Hunter leave for the NFL, but Coach Sanders and others associated with the Colorado program have remained consistent in their stance: Coach Sanders has no intention of following them to the NFL and is comfortable staying where he is.
Consensus 4-Star TE Andrew Olesh Flips from Michigan to Penn State
BREAKING: Elite 2025 TE Andrew Olesh has Flipped his Commitment from Michigan to Penn State, he tells me for @On3Recruits
The 6’5 215 TE had been Committed to the Wolverines since July
“Let’s bring home a National Championship to Penn State! The best in PA stay in PA 🦁”… x.com/i/web/status/1…
— Hayes Fawcett (@Hayesfawcett3)

Consensus 4-Star TE Andrew Olesh flipped his commitment yesterday from Michigan to Penn State after pledging his commitment to the Wolverines back in early July.
For Olesh, a big part of the decision was choosing to stay home, but also his connection with Penn State TE Coach Ty Howle, sharing that Coach Howle has a great track record of developing tight ends across his entire career.
Olesh is one of the top tight ends in the country, ranked as high as the 2nd best TE and 43rd ranked player according to On3, while the On3 industry composite ranks Olesh 55th nationally and 3rd at the TE position.
Michigan’s 2025 class still has 15 Blue Chip commitments and 22 commitments overall for a class which still ranks 9th nationally and 3rd in the Big Ten behind only Oregon and Ohio State. For Penn State, Olesh is the Nittany Lions 13th 4-star commitment and 27th commitment overall for a class which ranks 15th nationally and 5th in the Big Ten, behind those other teams, as well as USC.
2026 Consensus 4-Star RB Damarius Yates Decommits from Mississippi State
Thanks to Mississippi state coach’s and staffs for taking there chance on me during my recruitment but Mississippi state is not the place for me 🤝🏾
— Damarius Yates (@damarius_yates)
1:01 AM • Dec 7, 2024
2026 consensus 4-star RB Damarius Yates decommitted from Mississippi State yesterday after committing to the Bulldogs on September 15.
Yates kept his decommitment post (embedded above) simple, sharing that Starkville and the Bulldogs program was not the place for him. In the last year, Yates has visited several high profile programs like Florida State, Tennessee, Nebraska, Ohio State, and Alabama.
On3 ranks Yates the highest, ranking him 67th nationally and 6th at the RB position, but the On3 industry composite ranks Yates 74th nationally and 7th at the RB position.
Mississippi State still has 4 commitments for the 2026 class, but it is very early to be considering team rankings for the 2026 class.
Consensus 4-Star EDGE LaJesse Harrold Commits to Florida State
Consensus 4-star EDGE LaJesse Harrold commits to Florida State after very recently decommitting from LSU, where he had been committed since June 22nd.
Harrold took an official visit this past weekend, which he described as “great” and shared that the he liked the family environment and supportive feeling he got from everyone, and evidently it played a big role in his decision on where to go. He also said he chose Florida State because of the development that he could get from the Seminoles program.
Harrold ranks highest on 247, ranking 146th nationally and 13th at the EDGE position, with the On3 industry composite ranking Harrold 156th nationally and 20th at the EDGE position.
Florida State’s 2025 class now has 9 4-star commitments and 20 commitments overall for a class which ranks 19th nationally and 2nd in the ACC, behind only Miami.
Jalon Daniels Agrees to Deal to Stay with Kansas for 2025
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Kansas QB Jalon Daniels has agreed to a new deal to stay with Kansas for 2025.
Daniels has been with Kansas for five seasons now, having thrown for 6,751 passing yards and 45 touchdowns. This season he has 2,454 passing yards and 14 touchdowns to 12 interceptions while also adding 447 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns.
Despite only going 5-7 on the season, the Jayhawks did win 3 games over Top 25 teams and more than left their mark on the season, even if it is not ending with a bowl berth. And after the combination of injuries and COVID have allowed for a sixth season, Jalon Daniels is back with the Jayhawks to try and make their mark on the 2025 season, as well.
