Shilo Sanders: Colorado’s Secondary Will Be No Fly Zone in 2024

Colorado CB Shilo Sanders recently shared that he believes Colorado’s secondary is going to be a no fly zone in 2024 after factoring in all of the new additions in the secondary.

These additions include Oklahoma State’s DJ McKinney, Liberty’s Preston Hodge, Auburn’s Colton Hood, and Furman’s Ivan Yates. This also is in addition to nickel Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig returning after a solid season in 2023, and then obviously star Travis Hunter who plays both ways.

Quarterback Shedeur Sanders also weighed in by pointing out that he believes the coverage in practice has been much tighter than it was last season.

Texas A&M RB Rueben Owens Suffers Season-Ending Injury

Texas A&M star RB Rueben Owens is expected to miss all of 2024 due to a season-ending injury after suffering a lower body injury in a scrimmage on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Max Olson and Pete Thamel.

After leading all true freshman in all-purpose yards with 743 in 2023, he was expected to have a big 2024.

Behind Owens on the Aggies’ depth chart are veterans Le’Veon Moss and Amari Daniels, as well as Stanford transfer RB EJ Smith, son of Emmitt Smith.

Amari Daniels led the Aggies in rushing last season with 532 rushing yards, splitting carries with Moss, who had 484 rushing yards.

4-Star DL Christian Garrett Decommits from Georgia

Consensus 4-Star DL Christian Garrett decommitted from Georgia yesterday after committing back on June 9th when he originally chose the Bulldogs over the likes of Clemson, Tennessee, USC, and Georgia Tech.

Based on what has been shared by insiders and according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (88.4%), the team to watch here is Georgia Tech.

Garrett ranks as highly as the 62nd ranked prospect nationally and 5th ranked DL (On3 for both) with an On3 industry composite ranking of 129th nationally and 11th at the DL position.

Georgia still has 19 Blue Chip commitments and 22 commitments overall in the 2025 class, which ranks 4th nationally and 3rd in the SEC still.

On3’s Jesse Simonton’s Preseason Top 25

On3’s Jesse Simonton recently shared his Top 25 ballot if he were to be an AP Top 25 voter on behalf of On3.

At the top of his ballot, are Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, Oregon, and Alabama – which are generally most voter’s Top 5 in some order.

After that, it gets a little murkier, with Ole Miss at No. 6 and reigning national champion Michigan at No. 7.

The top ranked Big 12 program, Utah, checks in at No. 13.

Simonton ranks a total of 9 SEC programs, 6 Big Ten programs, 5 Big 12 programs, and 4 ACC programs.

Nebraska WR Isaiah Neyor Calls QB Room “Great”

Nebraska transfer WR Isaiah Neyor has recently shared that he believes all of the quarterbacks in the Nebraska QB room are great and all bring positives with them.

QBs Dylan Raiola and Heinrich Haarberg are the two who are believed to be the QBs competing for the starting job, with Daniel Kaelin also a part of the battle back in the spring.

Haarberg brings experience, having started 8 games in 2023. But Raiola brings pedigree and excitement of something new, as he was a five-star prospect and one of the top QBs in the 2024 class.

3-Star WR Carterrious Brown Commits to SMU

3-Star WR Carterrious Brown committed to SMU yesterday over TCU while also holding offers from Texas, Baylor, Arizona State, and others.

The 6-foot-2 WR from Arlington, TX took an official visit to TCU and On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gave TCU (28.0%), Colorado State (24.5%), and Arizona State (21.0%) all better chances than SMU (11.9%), but it is the Mustangs who land the commitment of Brown.

Brown is rated a 4-star by Rivals and ranked as the 63rd best WR according to the site. On3’s industry composite ranks Brown as the 667 ranked prospect nationally and the 101st ranked WR.

Brown’s commitment makes 21 for SMU’s 2025 class. It also helps SMU jump past South Carolina and tie up TCU’s recruiting class for 25th/26th nationally and 4th in the ACC behind only Clemson, Florida State, and Miami.

Jeremiah Smith: Will Howard Has Made Big Jump

Ohio State WR and heralded true freshman Jeremiah Smith has shared that QB Will Howard has made a “big jump from in the spring.”

Smith has noted that Howard’s confidence is through the roof, and Howard has started feeling using his voice, both to command the offense and to “talk a lot of mess on the field,” which Smith likes from a quarterback.

Howard is still locked in a QB battle with Devin Brown, Julian Sayin, Air Noland, and Lincoln Kienholz.

ESPN Releases SEC Power Rankings for 2024

ESPN recently released a preview from Chris Low and Mark Schlabach regarding the SEC, which included a power ranking of every SEC team.

At the top, Georgia, Texas, and Alabama make up a clear top 3.

After them, Ole Miss and Mizzou round out the top 5.

Tennessee, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Kentucky make up the rest of the top 10.

Utah’s Kyle Whittingham Warns of Major Realignment Coming

Utah coach Kyle Whittingham recently shared his thoughts with John Canzano on the direction of college football.

Whittingham believes a major shift is coming in college football which looks very much like an NFL minor league system, and he thinks it’s going to be at some point between the next 20 months and 4 years.

And this NFL minor league system, according to Whittingham, is likely to be 40 to 60 programs, leaving the rest of the programs in no man’s land. Whittingham also sees a playoff expansion to 16 for that super conference as likely, as well as making all of the players in the super conference employees.

3-Star RB Ladainnian Martin Commits to Georgia State

3-Star RB Ladainnian Martin committed yesterday to Georgia State over offers from Tennessee, Louisville, James Madison, and others.

Martin is described by 247Sports as a dynamic speedster at 5-foot-10, 164 pounds. Martin is the second best recruit in the 2025 class committed to the Georgia State Panthers at the moment.

247Sports also is the lone recruiting service to rate him a 4-star, ranking him as the 20th best RB and 5th best recruit from South Carolina in the 2025 class.

The On3 industry composite ranks Martin as the 795th ranked prospect nationally and 61st ranked RB.

Martin is Georgia State’s 18th commitment in the 2025 class, which On3 currently ranks 75th nationally (prior to factoring in Martin’s commitment) and best in the Sun Belt.
