Billy Napier on Starting DJ Lagway over Graham Mertz

Florida coach Billy Napier was asked about the possibility of starting DJ Lagway over Graham Mertz when Graham Mertz clears concussion protocol, and Napier responded by not really giving much of an answer:

“That’s a hypothetical question. We’re going to enjoy this game tonight. We’re going to go back and watch the tape. We’ve got a good young quarterback, and we have an incredible veteran quarterback as well. So it’s a good thing for our current team and the future of the program to some degree.”

Florida starts SEC play next weekend with Texas A&M coming to Gainesville in Week 3.

Napier also said, “we’re going to stay the course, and much like we described in the beginning, we’ll have a plan for DJ every week going forward.”

LSU DT Jacobian Guillory Out for Rest of 2024

LSU DT Jacobian Guillory reportedly suffered a torn Achilles and is now expected to miss the remainder of the 2024 season according to The Bengal Tiger’s Matthew Brune.

Guillory was injured in the first quarter and needed to be helped off the field. He was then placed in a boot before being rolled off the field in a wheelchair.

This was his fifth season at LSU after a 2023 season in which Guillory played in all 13 games and finished with 27 tackles and a pair of QB hurries.

4-Star Edge Javion Hilson Decommits from Florida State

High 4-star Edge Javion Hilson decommitted from Florida State yesterday after originally committing to the Seminoles back in January.

Hilson also was once committed to Alabama, but decommitted following Nick Saban’s retirement. This summer, he took official visits to Florida State, Texas, Florida, and UCF.

Hilson is ranked highest by Rivals, who rates him a 5-star, ranks him 15th nationally, and ranks him 1st for his position. According to On3’s composite rankings, Hilson ranks 37th nationally and 2nd for his position.

Losing Hilson drops Florida State further in the 2025 class rankings as the Seminoles are down to 9 Blue Chip commitments and 11 commitments overall for a class whicih ranks 17th nationally and 4th in the ACC.

Shedeur Sanders on Pick-Six: Rookie Mistake

Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders struggled some against Nebraska’s defense, including a pick-six in the first half.

When asked about the impact on the team, Sanders took ownership of it saying it impacted the team, “a lot. It was just a rookie mistake, honestly. … So we’ve just got to bounce back from it and learn from that situation and just be ready for it.”

Aside from that pick-six to Nebraska’s Tommi Hill, Sanders finished 23-of-38 for 244 yards and a touchdown.

Consensus 4-Star LB Ty Jackson Commits to USC

4-Star LB Ty Jackson commits to USC over offers from Alabama, Florida State, Tennessee, and others.

247Sports’ Andrew Ivins has described Jackson as a linebacker who shines in a combine setting while also putting up incredibly productive numbers on Friday nights for his high school.

With that combination, it’s no wonder that Jackson ranks as the top linebacker for both On3 and ESPN. On3 is also highest on Jackson nationally, ranking him as the 25th best player in the 2025 class overall. According to On3’s industry composite ranking, Jackson ranks 79th nationally and 6th for his position.

Jackson is USC’s 12th Blue Chip commitment and 19th commitment overall for a 2025 class which ranks 15th nationally and 4th in the Big Ten.

Paul Finebaum: ESPN Was Going to Kentucky for GameDay before 31-6 Loss

According to SEC analyst Paul Finebaum, ESPN’s College GameDay was going to head to Lexington in Week 3 for Kentucky’s matchup against #1 Georgia. However, after a 31-6 beatdown from South Carolina, GameDay is going to Columbia, SC to see LSU and South Carolina.

Finebaum also said the decision to go to South Carolina for the sport’s marquee pre-game show was a bizarre one, but this a Week 3 slate which only features one ranked-on-ranked matchup on Saturday – #24 Boston College @ #6 Missouri – and that game is not even on a major network like ESPN or ABC, but rather SEC Network.

Shedeur Sanders on Colorado’s Offense: Got To Understand What Your Team’s Good At

Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders was recently asked about the team’s playcalling and how passing-centric the offense is. When asked if the team should balance themselves out more and lean on the running game more, Sanders opened his answer with impliedly placing blame on his offensive line, asking how often Nebraska QB Dylan Raiola got touched in the game, comparatively.

Then he proceeded to share that running the ball consistently definitely helps open up the passing game. But “you’ve got to understand what your team’s good at.” Sanders then alluded to a 4th & 1 situation where Colorado needed just one yard but instead handed it off for a 2-yard loss.

“If we’re going to go down I’d rather go down swinging, honestly. Because I know I can throw the best punch,” Sanders finished by saying.

2026 Consensus 4-Star Edge Zavion Griffin-Haynes Commits to North Carolina

2026 Consensus 4-star Edge Zavion Griffin-Haynes committed to North Carolina yesterday over offers from Florida State, Ohio State, Miami, and others.

Griffin-Haynes visited North Carolina this weekend and said he wasn’t planning on committing to the Tar Heels that weekend, but he just had that feeling after visiting.

Griffin-Haynes ranks as high as 77th nationally and 7th at his position according to On3. According to On3’s industry composite rankings, Griffin-Haynes is ranked 110th nationally and 9th at his position.

This is North Carolina’s 2nd commitment for the 2026 class, as Griffin-Haynes joins 3-star QB Zaid Lott for North Carolina’s 2026 class.
