CFB Roundup – February 16, 2025
Good morning, and welcome back to CFB Roundup from CFB Home – the first daily newsletter that’s all college football, all the time with no bias, no slant, and no fluff.
The Tides That Bind: Inside Alabama Football Docuseries Set to Debut February 19th
FOX Nation chronicled the journey of the 2024 Alabama season, the first season of the Crimson Tide not led by former Head Coach Nick Saban.
It was announced that the series will debut February 19th, contains six episodes, and includes interviews with some notable Crimson Tide names, like HC Kalen DeBoer, DB Malachi Moore, WR Ryan Williams, and QB Jalen Milroe, among others.
Former Alabama CB and two-time national champion Caleb Castille is an Executive Producer on the project.
The six-part series opens with the big win over Georgia, followed by the devastating loss to Vanderbilt, with the next episode focusing on the defensive staff’s bounce back from that loss. The next episodes are then about tough matchups against Tennessee and Missouri, with the 5th episode covering the LSU matchup and CFP implications, with the final episode showing the brutal loss to Oklahoma before the season finale Iron Bowl victory against Auburn.
USC AD Jen Cohen Backs HC Lincoln Riley
USC AD Jen Cohen recently publicly backed Head Coach Lincoln Riley in an interview with the Los Angeles Times’ Ryan Kartje, sharing that “Lincoln has the experience, right? He’s built and led championship teams before. And so, my focus with him is just investing and giving him – and not just him, but his entire coaching staff, his support staff that he has around him – every resource possible to get to the next level.”
This includes some big acquisitions in the player personnel department, as USC went and poached Notre Dame GM with Chad Bowden with a $1M+ salary, as well as former Wisconsin GM Max Stienecker to be its Executive Director of Player Personnel.
“This industry is changing so much, so rapidly, that we’re always in conversations and evaluating everything that we need. What resources do we need? What pieces do we need to put in place to be successful? So, it’s not an end-of-the-year conversation. It’s ongoing. I’m pleased with the progress we’ve made since the end of the season and in the offseason. I think he’s done an excellent job of putting together a great coaching staff. We worked really hard to keep a number of talented coaches and to retain them. Consistency is so important, so I’m really pleased with that.”

Green has been to each of these schools for at least one visit.
“Visits now will be important to me. Spending more time with coaches, being around the program and things like that will be what I look for. I have talked to Georgia, Ohio State, and Miami about official visits. I have the dates that they are bringing recruits in for visits. Now I am waiting to get all the different dates before I decide on where I am going. When I commit, I want to get it done in July or early August before the season. How I see myself being developed there will be big in my decision. Who can help me get to the next level is what I am looking for. Having a strong relationship with the coaches is another thing important to me.”
Green ranks 169th nationally and 8th at the ATH position designation according to the On3 industry composite rankings.

Hiter and his family will also be returning to Tennessee the weekend of April 5, as well as visiting Ohio State in the spring.
His mother Aishia spoke with On3, sharing, “I would say from his standpoint and our standpoint [Michigan has] set the bar really high. From the beginning with them, the whole staff has been involved. They’ve been very consistent. We’ve built a great relationship with not only Coach Tony Alford, but the Head Coach, Sherrone Moore, as well.”
On Georgia, Ms. Hiter shared, “Georgia is definitely a close contender. They also do a lot of the same things as well.” About Tennessee: “Tennessee, they’ve done a really good job as well. — On3 Recruits (@On3Recruits)

4-star LB Nick Abrams has set his first two visits for the Spring: Georgia (March 15) and Alabama (March 18).
High on his list also ranks Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, Texas A&M, Duke, Oregon, Vanderbilt, and USC.
What Abrams said on Georgia: “Over the years, Georgia has built not only one of the best programs in the nation but one of the greatest defenses. A defense where linebackers thrive in. They put guys in the league and that’s something you can’t ignore. I would be foolish not to visit and see more of what Coach Schumann is talking about.”
About Alabama: “Alabama has shown me that I’m a priority to them from the jump. Having Coach DeBoer and Coach Morrell come see me in person really opened my eyes to how much they like me as a prospect. So, it was a no-brainer wanting to get down there and see what Alabama has to offer. Also, it’s Alabama. They put guys in the league consistently. It’s hard not to gravitate towards that.”
