ACC Preseason Media Poll Revealed

The 170 votes cast by media members at ACC Media Days have been tallied up, and the results have been revealed.

Commanding almost half of the first-place votes, Florida State (81) ranks 1st. Clemson received the next most first-place votes with 55, and Miami was the only other school to receive double-digit first place votes with 17. Georgia Tech, Cal, and Boston College also, interestingly, received some first-place consideration.

Newcomers SMU (7th) and Cal (10th) were not ranked towards the bottom, but Stanford (17th) was ranked last.

NCAA: Jim Harbaugh Displayed Dishonest Conduct

The Notice of Allegations sent to Michigan back in December have recently been revealed in a report by the Detroit Free Press.

In these Notice of Allegations from the NCAA, it alleges that Jim Harbaugh engaged in dishonest conduct and had impermissible contact with recruits during the COVID-19 dead period.

Additionally, a staffer regularly engaged in supplying instruction to student-athletes and on-campus evaluations for prospective student-athletes, also no-no’s with the NCAA.

According to the Detroit Free Press, these allegations are why Harbaugh sat out for the first three games of the 2023 season.

2026 4-Star ATH Demetres Samuel Flips from Syracuse to Florida

2026 4-star ATH Demetres Samuel flipped yesterday from Syracuse to Florida after originally committing to Syracuse back on March 30th.

Samuel is expected to reclassify to the 2026 at some point in the at least somewhat near future.

On3 is the highest on Samuel, ranking him 52nd nationally and 4th for his position, with the On3 industry composite ranking him 87th nationally and 6th at his position.

For now, Florida has 4 commitments in the 2026 class, which ranks 6th nationally and 3rd in the SEC.

2024 Jim Thorpe Award Preseason Watch List Announced

The Jim Thorpe Award shared its 2024 preseason watch list, which it described as not an exhaustive or exclusive list, and players who have “outstanding seasons” may end up getting added to semifinalist and finalist lists before season’s end.

The list includes standout names like Ohio State’s Caleb Downs, Kentucky’s Maxwell Hairston, Colorado’s Travis Hunter, Michigan’s Will Johnson, Alabama’s Malachi Moore, Notre Dame’s Xavier Watts, Georgia’s Malaki Starks, and dozens more.

On3’s Heisman Winner and Finalists Predictions

On3’s JD PicKell recently shared his picks for the finalists for the 2024 Heisman Trophy, as well as his prediction for the winner.

4 players just missed his finalist list, including Missouri WR Luther Burden and Miami QB Cam Ward.

For his 4 finalists, PicKell lists Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel, Alabama QB Jalen Milroe, Georgia QB Carson Beck, and Texas QB Quinn Ewers, with Ewers being his pick for the 2024 Heisman.

2026 4-Star S Devin Jackson Commits to Florida

Composite 2026 4-star S Devin Jackson committed yesterday to Florida over an offer list which included over a dozen programs like Georgia, LSU, Missouri, Texas A&M, among others.

For Jackson, he feels the love from the Gators staff, and has been there so many times it feels like home for him.

ESPN is the highest on Jackson, ranking him 281st nationally and 18th for his position. The On3 industry composite ranking places Jackson 323rd nationally and 27th for his position.

As mentioned above, Florida’s 2026 class has 4 commitments, ranks 6th nationally, and ranks 3rd in the SEC.

Virginia Tech QB Drones Calls Florida State’s Atmosphere “Overhyped”

Virginia Tech QB Kyron Drones was recently on Shedeur Sanders’ podcast and the topic of stadium atmospheres came up.

When asked what the best ACC atmosphere was, Drones naturally chose Virginia Tech and the “Enter Sandman” entrance. But after that, Drones spoke highly of Louisville’s and how loud it got.

When asked about Florida State, Drones said that he believed it was overhyped. He did give credit and say that “[Florida State’s atmosphere] goes crazy for a night game. Not [as loud as Louisville] though.”

DeBoer Raving About 5-Star True Freshman Ryan Williams

Alabama HC Kalen DeBoer took some time recently to share some incredibly positive feedback about true freshman and former Top 10 national recruit Ryan Williams’ development thus far.

DeBoer raved about the trajectory that Williams is on as he tries to coach up the consistency in his fundamentals.

DeBoer has said that his goal is that from the first game this season, Williams will be doing the little things right and making the easy plays, and because of his natural ability, big plays will follow.

3-Star LB Jaiden Braker Flips from South Carolina to LSU

After committing to South Carolina on July 6th, things changed for Braker after he got an offer from LSU while attending LSU’s “Bayou Splash” this past week.

On3 is the highest on Braker’s talents, ranking him 44th at his position. According to the On3 industry composite ranking, Braker ranks 689th nationally and 74th at his position.

LSU’s 2025 class now has 19 commitments, ranks 3rd nationally, and 2nd in the SEC. South Carolina’s 2025 class now has 18 commitments, ranks 27th nationally, and 12th in the SEC.

Arkansas’ Pittman: Establishing the Run is the Plan

Arkansas Coach Sam Pittman recently shared that for 2024, the plan is to get back to establishing the run.

Arkansas will definitely look different on offense this season without quarterback KJ Jefferson and with new offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino.

But for establishing the run, Pittman and company were intentional with that being the plan when they went about recruiting the transfer portal. By establishing the run, Pittman believes that Petrino’s interest in effectively running play action can be best met.
