Good morning, and welcome back to CFB Roundup from CFB Home – the first daily newsletter that’s all college football, all the time with no bias, no slant, and no fluff.

Consensus 4-Star EDGE Simote Katoanga Commits to USC

Consensus 4-star EDGE Simote Katoanga committed to USC yesterday over offers from Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, and Georgia, among other offers.

Katoanga visited USC four times throughout his recruitment, including a visit earlier this month. After that visit, he shared that the highlight was meeting with the coaches, where he said they made him feel like a priority and that he loved what they are building.

Katoanga ranks as high as 52nd nationally (On3) and 6th at the EDGE rusher position (247), but the On3 industry composite ranks him 95th nationally and 10th at the EDGE rusher position.

With Katoanga’s commitment, the USC 2026 class now has 7 Blue Chip commitments and 11 total commitments for a class which ranks just behind Oregon nationally according to the On3 team recruiting rankings.

Near Consensus 5-Star WR Tristen Keys With 4 Spring Visits Set

Near consensus 5-star WR Tristen Keys has 4 spring visits set to go along with his already packed summer schedule, as everyone wants an opportunity to host the top ranked WR on the On3 industry composite and 247Sports player rankings.

Keys is visiting Tennessee (March 10th), LSU (March 18th), Texas A&M (March 29th), and Michigan (April 5th) in the spring. He is also planning to take official visits to LSU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Miami, Alabama, and Auburn over the summer.

Keys ranks as high as 4th nationally and 1st at the WR position (247Sports), but he ranks 5th nationally and 1st at the WR position according to the On3 industry composite.

On3 is the only recruiting service which rates him as a 4-star instead of a 5-star, but On3 tends to start a recruiting point or two lower on recruit ratings until they get a little closer to signing day to be more selective and informed when deciding who is a 4- and 5-star. Even with On3 only rating him a 4-star, it ranks him as the 9th best player in the class. For reference, only 5 players are currently given 5 stars by On3, when there were 32 players by the end of the 2025 class to be rated as a 5-star by On3’s individual ratings.

Near 5-Star RB Derrek Cooper With 5 OVs on Summer Schedule

RB Derrek Cooper has lined up 5 official visits for this summer, going to Auburn (May 18), then Miami (May 30), Alabama (June 6), Georgia (June 13), and finally Ohio State (June 20).

Cooper goes to school in Fort Lauderdale, FL, which helps explain some why the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine favors Miami (30.0%) slightly, followed by Auburn (18.8%), Georgia (16.1%), Ohio State (13.4%), Alabama (8.2%) (and apparently, 13.5% to the rest of the country).

Cooper has also shared in the past that the proximity of Miami allowing for his family to visit and watch his games is a big draw for him.

Cooper is rated as a 5-star by both ESPN and Rivals, with 247 ranking him 28th nationally and On3 being, by far, the most modest, ranking him 115th. The On3 industry composite, however, ranks him 23rd nationally and 2nd at the RB position.

Last summer, Cooper briefly committed and decommitted from Georgia over the course of roughly four days.

4-Star DL Keytrin Harris Narrows List Down to 6 Schools

4-Star DL Keytrin Harris has roughly 20 offers, but has recently shared with On3 that he’s narrowed his search down to 6 programs: Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and UCLA.

The Las Vegas, NV product is primarily looking at schools out West, but Tennessee and Texas A&M are interesting inclusions. Despite Tennessee being the furthest school listed, it is one of only two programs he has visited yet, with Cal being the other.

Harris has tentatively scheduled an OV with each of his top 6 schools, except for Texas A&M: Arizona State (May 2), UCLA (May 24), Cal (June 6), Tennessee (June 13), and Arizona (June 20).

As for what he is looking for, he has already shared that he is looking for a school that can help him grown both on and off the field, and he is looking to commit towards the end of June after having visited each program in-person.

Harris ranks as high as 194th nationally (On3) and 18th at his position (On3, Rivals). The On3 industry composite ranks Harris 319th nationally and 35th at the DL position, however.
